View Full Version : Carolina & Lancaster Set for HUGE Carolina Clash Weekend!

Lincolnton, NC – One big weekend, two huge shows! That is what the race fans of the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series have in store for them this coming weekend September 19th and 20th. .

On Friday night September 19th the nine year old series will make it’s second stop of the year at Carolina Speedway in Gastonia, NC. This will be the inaugural running of the Hall of Fame 50 – ‘ A Tribute to Humpy Wheeler’. Humpy Wheeler will be returning to his old stomping grounds as he will be the first inductee into the Carolina Speedway Hall of Fame. This will be a $5,000 to win 50 lap main event. Carolina Speedway has long been stop on the Carolina Clash schedule and a record crowd is expected Friday night.

“We are having a great season,” said Carolina Speedway Co-Promoter Mark Gibbons. “The racing has been excellent the crowds have been fantastic and the atmosphere has been wonderful. To be able to bring Humpy Wheeler back to Carolina Speedway is a great honor for us and he will be able to enjoy one heck of a show. This Hall of Fame race has all the makings to been one for the record books.”

Rutherfordon, NC’s Ricky Weeks is back on top of the point standings in the Carolina Clash Countdown to the Championship Series. His second place run last weekend propelled him back in front of Dennis ‘Rambo’ Franklin by a slight 15 points.

When the Clash Series visited Carolina Speedway in June, defending Carolina Speedway Track Champion Tim ‘The Toolman’ Allen shocked the travelers as he went wire to wire for his first career Carolina Clash win.

Also on the card for Friday night will be the fan favorite Super Stocks, Pure Stock Four and ‘wild and wooly’ Renegade’s and Open Wheel Modifieds. Gates open at 5:00 with racing at 8:00 PM. On Saturday night September 20th the tour will head south to the legendary Lancaster Speedway. Lancaster Speedway is one of the most historic race tracks in the country and the high speeds attract fans from all over.

"Lancaster is one of the most exciting and unique race tracks I have ever been to," said Larry Lee, Carolina Clash Series President. "That place has the most character and the most energetic fans in dirt racing. They have a sign at the gate that reads, 'Through these gates walk the world’s greatest race fans', and that speaks volumes for the fans of Lancaster Speedway. The track itself is super fast and should provide some of the most exciting racing we will see all year."
