LINCOLNTON, N.C. -- The Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series is set for round 3 of the 'Countdown to the Cup Championship Series' this Saturday Night September 13th at Wythe Raceway.
This will be the third and final trip up the mountain to scenic Southern Virginia for the 'Carolina Bad Boys' in 2008. The first event in May was a twin main event with Dennis 'Rambo' Franklin and Jonathan Davenport sharing the wins. Mother Nature scored the win back in August.
Franklin enters the event with a slim points lead over Ricky Weeks. Franklin's fifth place finish last weekend at Friendship Speedway along with Weeks' disappointing 21st place run netted the Gaffney, SC driver 45 point lead over the four-time and defending series champion.
"It aint over until its over," said Franklin from his Barry Wright house car shop. "We have had our share of bad luck this season to so right now it still up in the air. The 'Championship Series' has definitely made it very exciting," said Franklin. "These last four events will be filled with a lot of drama, that is for sure!"
The event will be a $5,000 to win 50 lap affair. Gates will be open at 4:00 with the drivers meeting at 6:15 and racing at 6:30. In case of inclement weather the make-up date will be Saturday night September 27th.
