Hey guys i just wanted to send out a warning. Scrap is upto or more then 10.00$ per hunderd. What does that mean?, old cars are being pulled from everywhere and hauled into scrap dealers. I know you have seen signs saying "cash for old cars" or trucks with homemade dollys hauling cars. Junkyards dont want these old cars so they are going straight to the crusher....not just old dodge caravans. I took off work early today and stopped by a local car crushing outfit....2 mid 30's pickups waiting to be shredded......... if they are being brought in so are old race cars!! I talked with the owner and he said that in early 80's when scrap hit highs the countryside was pickled clean of old cars....and race cars. It might be a good idea to stop in and get to know the scrap dealer..... never know an old Fireball M1 coupe might be drug in or an old GN Chevelle....they are out there and when the junkman runs outta cars in backyards he will look harder......So next chance ya get....stop and tell him to set aside any old stockers....might be surprised what you get.....even if not for you, maybe someone eles can save it!!.........

yea i know the feeling the zoning nazia made me junk a 1997 hendrick motorsports chassis that was raced by terry labonte at texas, charlotte. still get sick thinking about that.....81 mustang now will be like a 37 chevy race car in 30 years......... i guess the same reason there not easy to find..after they raced and used up scrapped.

I am looking for old race cars from the 50's, 60's, or the early 70's. I once went to a junkyard and the man had 5 1940 ford coupes they had all been raced and wrecked but they could have been fixed. A month later I went to South Boston Speedway and seen my first vintage race. I went back to that junkyard but I was too late the coupes and some mid 50's race cars were gone.

Nice find archie...I hear SC has a crowd of cars behind the barns. A guy I met recently said he'd found the Roy Tyner 66 Chevelle in a garage and bought it to restore. These old cars are like land, they don't MAKE anymore. Even if it was pulled out for yard art, I would rather be looking at a 55 Chevy vintage stocker flower box then see it in the crusher.
Here's one for you...he raced in 1980 at Atlanta...Rusty Wallace was making his debut...can you name the driver AND the owner?
I know the answer is only a click away on google so to everyone, just give it a day if it's not answered by then. Thanks.
