HAGERSTOWN, Md. -- The final checkered flag isn’t that far away at Hagerstown Speedway as following Saturday night's wash out by Tropical Storm Hanna, only three shows remain on the 2008 schedule.

The traditional prestigious late season event for the late models has been the Hub City 150 and this Saturday, with a change from the three 50-lap race format and no sanction, the 34th Annual Hub City 100 will be in action and sanctioned by the IRS (Independent Racing Series) Late Models. The 50-lap event has $7,000 awaiting the winner. Time trials are by the group’s hot lap session.

Also included on the program this season are the highly competitive and popular 358 sprints which compete at several Central Pennsylvania tracks on a weekly basis. They will be competing in a 50-lap event with $3,000 going to the winner. Drivers are reminded that home track rules apply and a rule book must be available.

The 2nd Annual Shamrock Inn Small Car Nationals is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, September 19-20. Highly successful in its inaugural event last season, it returns as a two day program with all qualifying for the late model sportsman (limited late model), pure stocks and four cylinders held on Friday night. Time trials will be held for the late model sportsman and pure stocks.

Saturday evening’s program will fill out the starting fields with the consolation events, followed by a 30 lap feature for the late model sportsman, 25-laps for pure stocks and 15 for the four cylinders, all paying $2,000 to win. Hagerstown’s general rules apply for all divisions, but drivers must have a home track rule book available during inspection.

A power puff event will be held for the women while enduro drivers will be competing in their final championship event. The 22nd Annual Tommy Thompson Demo Derby was postponed from September 6th (due to Hanna) and has also been included on the program.

After a several week break as other speedways present their final events, it’s always a crowd pleaser and the best buy in motorsports, the 21st Annual Octoberfest 350 is set for October 25-26.

Where can you see so much racing with the big and small block modifieds, super late models and super sprints, the top four dirt racing divisions all on one program. It’s the extravaganza spectacular.

All qualifying events will be completed on Saturday with Sunday reserved for the 100-lap features for the big and small blocks and late models while the sprints will race 50 laps. Each feature pays $10,000 to the winner.
