Elkin, NC (Sept. 6) - With all the focus being placed on the Carolina Clash's 'Inaugural Nine' championship series contenders, a savvy veteran stepped up and stole the show on Saturday Night at Friendship Speedway.Greensboro, NC's Ray Tucker grabbed the early lead and held on to collect his second Carolina Clash win of 2008 and the $5,000 top prize.

Mooresville, NC's Dan Breuer debuting a new Warrior Chassis grabbed the early headlines with his winning efforts in Mega Plumbing of the Carolina's Qualifying. Breuer quickly grabbed the point over Ed Gibbons as the green flag waved for the 50 lap affair. Tucker quickly moved to second and began to challenge Breuer for the race lead in the early laps. Breuer's hopes of a win vanished shortly into the race when a flat tire knocked him from contention.

After that there was no looking back for the driver of the Roberts Transportation/Ready Fork Paving/Lake Gaston Living/Shearer Custom Speed & Accessories/Rocket Monte Carlo. G.R. Smith, who has been on a recent hot streak, continued his strong runs with his new team and came home in second. Jeff Smith captured a strong third place finish with Gibbons and Dennis 'Rambo' Franklin rounding out the top five.

Sixth through tenth went to Ronnie Hoover, PBM Rookie of the Year contender Tim Allen, Scott Neighbors, Randle Chupp and Doug Sanders.

Franklin's fifth place finish combined with Ricky Weeks' 21st place finish moved Franklin into the series points lead with only four events remaining.

Franklin was the Heintz Brothers Performance Hard Charger of the Race. Noel Tucker earned the $100 Dirt Trax Motorsports Hard Luck Award.
