As I sit at my desk at 7:54 pm on Monday September 1,2008 my heart is broken and my eyes are filled with tears.I think that we are all still in shock at what occurred Saturday evening at the track. With a near capacity crowd on hand we all came out to enjoy the big Labor day races, and have a good time as we always do.On lap 2 of the cadet feature a terrible tragedy happened. While at full racing speed a tire came off of one of the cars and rolled down into turns 1 and 2 and up on a hill which was crowded with drivers and crews,as well as their friends and family. The tire struck what I believe was 5 people(it is possible there were more)causing injuries ranging from cuts and bruises,to broken bones.By far the most seriously injured was 44 year old Cindy Nobles who took the main force of the errant tire.Mrs.Nobles sustained serious trauma to her face and head which would ultimately take her life.I was one of the first ones to Mrs.Nobles and I can tell all of you that she did not suffer. The impact was so quick that according to her husband she never saw nor felt it when it happened.I am careful about what I write and by whom I get imformation from.Having said that, the husband also told me that he believes that his wife was asleep,as it was late in the evening when the accident occurred.Mrs. Nobles was never conscious from that time until the time of her death. :prayer1:
