Last week Walter Crouch seemed ready to win, as he looked to be set to take the lead late in the event from Tommy Armel, but following some hard racing he would settle for second.
This week, Walter would have the upfront position again, but with some dogged individuals right behind him. The Bealeton, VA driver jumped to the lead from the green.
Bubby Dillman, Jr. would be on his heels trying to take over the lead. Also joining the fun as the race wore on was Denny Bonebrake. With every restart, Dillman or Bonebrake would get alongside but each time Crouch would pull out the win.
An incident would send Dillman out of the front running, leaving Bonebrake and Allen Brannon on the tail of crouch, Brannon using the highside and Bonebrake the inside attempted to push Crouch from his top spot, but every time Crouch used the bottom and was able to beat back all challengers, Bo Feathers would be the next man up to wedge the leader from his lead, as Feathers assumed second with just a few to go.
He tired the lowside over the final five laps but unable to get a line, finally on the last lap Feathers took it high, pulling even with Crouch.
But as the field raced off four it was Walter Crouch taking his first career Late Model victory.
Allen Brannon, Denny Bonebrake, and Wes Bonebrake rouded out the top five.
Heats for the 20 cars went to Mike Hardy and Allen Brannon

Mike Bennett at times has had what you could call a rough season, following a triumphant season in 07, Bennett entered the season not runnign for the title and not running till later on in the season.
Success hadn’t followed Bennett as in the past. But Saturday evening saw him starting from the front, and Bennett assuredly took advantage as he took the early lead.
The biggest fireworks of the night came when David Kaiser flipped his #0 early in the feature along the backstretch wall ending his night.
The only other major incident of the feature event was a Tony Stoneberger spin that saw him collected hard by Matt Kerns, with Matt Kerns continuing.
Mike Bennett picked up after both cautions and was not to be touched. He would cruise to his first win of the season in the Pure Stock division with a win over Buddy Wilson, Eddie McClellan, Bryan Kerns, and Donnie Kenney.
Heats for the 19 cars went to Donnie Kenney and Eddie McClellan.

The big event for the night was the 4-Cylinder Summer Championship, with 5 extra laps to run, the always exciting 4-cylinder class was ready to put on an even bigger show.
Butch Mayo jumped out in a battle with Roger Whitlock. Quickly though the weekly contender Chuck Johnson moved into second and into his usual slot, a side by side battle with one of the Toyota’s.
This week it was Whitlock that Johnson would face. And the race was dogged and determined, lap after lap, side by side, door handle to door handle.
The leaders were inseperable over the entire course of the race. And then with three to go, it was Johnson who now found himself a carlength ahead, and at the flag it was Johnson removing that monkey from his back as he collected his first win of the season.
Roger Whitlock crossed in second with Butch Mayo, Greg Keister, and Scott McCartney rounding out the top five.
Heats for the 18 cars went to Delmas Moreland and Scott McCartney.
