SUPER LATE MODELS;
Rick Whaley gave testimony to the fact that the best place to always be is out front. Whaley survived nine caution flags to take the $1250 to win 25-lap Super Late Model feature Saturday night at Delaware International. Joe Warren was back in victory lane in the 15-lap Crate Model main and Donald Robinson, Jr. got his first win of the year in the 10-lap Little Lincoln feature.
Bob Geiger led the first lap of the Super Late Model main before getting out of shape. Geiger was able to keep moving but both Staci Warrington and Ed Drury were left sitting. Whaley, who started in the second spot, was now on the point and in control.
Cautions on laps five, seven, eight and ten kept the field tightly bunched with Jon Callaway chasing Whaley from second until both Ray Davis, Jr. and Richard Jarvis, Jr. moved by for second and third. At the halfway sign the top five were Whaley, Jarvis, Davis, Callaway and Mark Byram. Callaway’s drive ended at this point as he rolled to a stop with a flat tire.
David Pettyjohn was now running in the top five but it was Hal Browning taking fourth on a lap 15 restart. Jarvis kept the pressure on Whaley with Byram getting back by Browning for fourth. The final yellow came out for Bryan Driver on lap 22. Davis edged into second on the restart but Jarvis regained the spot one lap latter but it was too late to catch Whaley.
Whaley, in the Richard Whaley Concrete No. 18, held on for his second win of the season by four tenths of a second over Jarvis. Davis finished a close third with Byram fourth and Browning fifth. Heats were won by Whaley and Browning.

At the halfway sign the top five were Warren, Tyler Reed, Breeding, Barry Beauchamp and Herb Tunis. Beauchamp was on the move taking third with two to go just as the yellow flew for the final time.
On the restart, Beauchamp battled his way by Reed for second with one to go but Warren was gone as he drove to his third win in the Big Fish Grill/Lazer. Beauchamp finished in the second spot with Reed third. Fourth went to Tunis with Justin Breeding rounding out the top five.
