Tri-County is next stop on FASTRAK road to $250,000 GRAND NATIONALS

CARNESVILLE, GA (July-30) The next stop on the FASTRAK Modern Chevrolet Southeast Touring Series will be Saturday, August 2 at the1/3 mile Tri-County Racetrack in Brasstown NC. FASTRAK seems to always generate a lot of attention in virtually every market the FASTRAK Modern Chevrolet Southeastern Tour travels to, but this weekend’s event at Tri-County is more than just a visiting racing series rolling into town.

As has been well documented in recent weeks, the level of competition has been intense. Race fans have been treated to events where the leader has been challenged over 30 times in a single 40 lap event. Fans have also been treated to events where as many 10 and 12 positions have been contested simultaneously lap after lap. It’s an incredible site to see eight, ten and sometimes twelve cars go door to door as fans have seen so many times already this year.

It’s important to note that currently, the FASTRAK Modern Chevrolet Southeastern Touring Series is coming into Tri-County this weekend with perhaps the longest streak of different winners of any touring series in the country. Ryan Gifford took the win at Wythe Raceway last weekend becoming the 11th different winner in the last 11 races.

Also important to those who compete regularly in the touring series, is the current point standings. It is conceivable that the top five positions in the FASTRAK Modern Chevrolet Touring Series point standings could change hands in just one single event.

In addition, points will be awarded towards crowning the FASTRAK City Chevrolet Weekly Racing Division champion as well. Drivers in all four corners of the continental United States are competing for the coveted title of National Champion.

With so much on the line, one key element beginning to garner a lot of attention is the level of respect the FASTRAK Modern Chevrolet Touring Series drivers have shown one another on the track in the later stages of the season. While the winner this Saturday night will collect $2000, the points implications are becoming more important with each event.

Many of the drivers competing this weekend at Tri-County will be focused on becoming eligible for the FASTRAK $250,000 GRAND NATIONALS only weeks away, where one driver will collect $50,000 and contingency awards valued at upwards of $20,000.

Local favorites Brian Kennersly, Jacob Grizzle, Jason Anderson, along with Josh Morrow, Jim Bob Davis and Kevin Sutton will compete with FASTRAK Modern Chevrolet Southeastern Touring Series drivers Matt Long, Lee Cooper, Owen Osteen, and John Llewellyn

You can bet this weekend’s event at Tri-County will not be your garden variety touring series rolling into town for a typical Saturday night race. When the FASTRAK Modern Chevrolet Touring Series visits Tri-County Speedway this weekend, it should be anything but typical.

Also competing Saturday night will be the Mini Stocks, Street Stocks, and the Modified Streets.

In addition to what is shaping up to be an exciting night of racing, race fans will have the opportunity to meet drivers in a short autograph session behind the main grandstands. The customary top-6 redraw will involve some of the children in attendance who’ll be rewarded for their assistance with trophies from FASTRAK.

Also on tap is the always popular FASTRAK Modern Chevrolet Southeastern Touring Series four-wide salute to the fans, complete with fireworks in the sky just above the racetrack.

The pits will open at 2 p.m. and the grandstands at 4 p.m.

Adult admission is just $15.00. Seniors $10.00 and children under 12 are admitted free.

The driver’s meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. with hot laps immediately after.
