NASCAR HAS THE CHASE, NOW ELS HAS THE HUNT....
STANLEY, N.C. (Saturday, July 19)–The first five starting positions for the first 20-lapper in the August 30th, 2nd Annual TJ’s Motorsports Warehouse Madhouse Scramble for Open Wheel Modifieds will be determined by what has been labeled "The Hunt". The July 19 & 26, Aug. 2, 9, 16 and 23 feature races will have a points system with the race winner receiving five points, second place four, third place three, fourth place two and fifth place one. Talley the total points accumulated and the driver earning the pole will be the competitor with the most points. In addition points will continue to awarded weekly the normal way toward the 2008 division track title. The remainder of the starting field will be determined by a heat race(s) depending on the number of cars present.
‘It’s different to say the least," said track manager James Honeycutt."There’ll be six weeks or ever how many races Mother Nature allows to us complete prior to Aug. 30 in "The Hunt".
The driver at the top of the ladder after the August 23 race or pole winner for Leg I of "The Hunt" will be awarded an extra $200 for his or her accomplishment along with "The Hunt" trophy.
For Leg II of the TJ’s Motorsports Warehouse Madhouse Scramble for Open Wheel Modifieds there will be a true "Scramble". All driver's names that compete in Leg I will have their names placed in a hat/container and "Scrambled". TJ's owner Bob Delia will stand on the front stretch of the 3/8-mile clay oval and begin drawing names with the first name drawn starting last. He will work his way through the contents of the hat/container until only one name remains which will be the driver receiving the pole starting position for the final 20-lapper.
One driver will have the opportunity to take home a total of $1,200 as each 20-lap contest will pay the winner $500.
Admission for this event that includes a full night of action for all other weekly divisions will be the same as last year, $12 for the grandstand and $20 for the pits.
"The hunt for the pole is what "The Hunt" is all about," added Honeycutt.
