I just want to know, what is so important that people have to cross the track during a race? I heard Mrs Upchurch tell a couple girls last night that they aren't to cross the track during the race and dont come back across. I agree with her. What is going on in the pits that is so important or inviting that they must cross during a race? Someone is going to get hurt doing this mess, then they will want to sue the track for their stupidity. Please listen to the quiet flagman in turn one and wait till the race is over. I hate to be the one that scoops ya off of the wall cuz you couldnt wait that extra minute. :check_flag:

Its been waiting for 20 years then. People have been doing it since the track has been there. Doing it under caution isn't so bad, but some people do it under green flag racing

Yea caution is ok i would assume. but undergreen man that must be a rush.lol

even under caution is crazy... what if a car spun out in turn 3, got himself straightened out and was running back to catch the pack, and comes around turn 4, there is a line of folks crossing the track, real nice view... not only has he messed up his racesuit but imagine what the ppl that were so dumb to cross , how they are reacting. One may fall on the slippery clay and then the race driver is responisible for that as well? Come on, lets us common sense... keep your tail on one side of the track or the other till the end of the race. Take what you need in the pits with ya and stay there... simple....

there is no need for ANYONE to cross or come on the track during a race. if a member of the track staff tells you not to cross, then dont do it. its going to really suck when a gate is put up and you start to cross just to realize that you cant make it through

everyone seems to forget about that track clean up worker down at Daytona 2 years ago when the race had been under caution and a car trying to catch run him over and killed him.
Dead is dead whether is a dirt track or a super speedway

Well if it's the ones I'm thinking of, it's the drama queen club. They think they own the track. But there are some instances when you have to cross the track. (i.e. Family emergency) That's the reason I had to leave and cross the track Saturday night. My wife called and one of my little girls had gotten sick. So there are instances where crossing the track is neccesary.

Just put a concrete wall right there or a fence and open it after the races are over

I know which ones you all are mainly pointing to. I do agree, butt in or butt out! But certain occasions do arise.

Really, anywhere you should only cross between races except maybe if there's an emergency.

look im the main one your talking about. yes i know i crossed the track, but clearly it was during a caution and no cars were coming, and i always make sure they are a safe distance away or they all just passed me and are heading into turn one and two under caution. if the light is blinking or solid green, i never cross, and if its yellow i take caution walking across there. i have seen many other close calls. so if your just noticing it, take it easy. plus if it was up to me, the man there holding the flag would say if you could cross or not. so thats mainly his fault. hes the guy that should tell you if its safe or not. cause i have been growing up at that track and i have never been told not to cross during a caution when there is clearly no cars around.
thats my opinion. and yes i was one that crossed and you fussed at me.

crossing the track is a major issue, you dont see it happen at any other track. take wayne county for instance, how many times did you see people cross under caution? NEVER. in the past few months ive been two a few tracks up north of the line and you dont do it there either. the point is people have been doing it at clr and they dont need to. maybe you dont see the danger in it or maybe you just dont care. but if you are asked not to cross the track, THEN DONT DO IT. i have on more than one occassion had to wait to get a warm up session underway because someone was walking across the track. its a danger to you and to the drivers. we have been meaning to put up the gate there but just havent had the chance and since we have the weekend off, maybe its a good time. the point is that i, along with the track staff and numerous drivers that mention it, are tired of people crossing the track during the races. when the last car goes through turn 1 AFTER the checkered flag then thats ok. then and only then. i dont see what could be so important on the other side of the track that it cant wait until the race is over.

Who cares how long people have been doing something. Sometimes change is a good thing whether people like it or not you have to do whats in their best interest.:88nd:

Me, personally, I say clean all the junk out over behind turn 2, do some clearing, and have and outside pit only. Use the infield for staging cars during qualifying and weighing the cars only.

It would give the fans a whole view of the racing action where some might be blocked by trailers.Wouldn't be to hard to do .

I like that idea that solves the crossing the track and the fans view but it does look like they have been try to clear it out a little bit :icon_cool:

exactly!!! don't go in the pits if you have to go back across the track for a non emergency. if there's something on the stands side of the track that interest you that much...sit there instead of the pits!!!

That's what I like about VMS. The infield is for staging only. There is a building (tech building, concessions and scales) in the infield that blocks the back stretch from only the lower seats in the stands. The pits are outside the track, and there's a good set of stands in turn three so if you're in the pits and wanna see the track, there you can.
