Glad to see that this gem of a track has joined the LocalRaceChat forum.

If any of you get a chance, you need to make the short trip to the Gettysburg area and take in some of the most intense 410 winged sprint action you will see anywhere in the country. Every weeks show has talent good enough to be running with the WoO or All Stars. The PA Posse is stout.

I live in the Burlington, NC area and it only takes me a little over five hours to get there (and I know for many of you it would only be three or four hours). They run a tight ship and many times I've gone, watched the whole show and been home in bed by 4am.

The place is like a fair. Every driver has T-shirts for sale behind the stands and the food is great. You can also take a lawn chair into the infield and watch in turns 3/4 (highly recommended to get that up-close 410 experience)

Yes, its a great place with great racing (the 410 sprints are awesome to watch there). And like you said, its got a kind of carnival atmosphere. I remember going up once when Hagerstown got rain/snowed out and on the first lap of the 410 sprint feature there was a 12 car accident including 2 guys flipping. I later read that the estimated damage just from the crash was around $60,000.

Good to see you posting here Brian. Next time you head up, may have to meet you half way or something and split the gas. I'm guessing though that you go up 81. For me it's probably closer to 5 hours as well going up 95 and 83.

Hey Larry, there were just some things I had to post and get off my chest. So, I figured since I had the p/w again, might as well add my 2cents to a few more threads.

I don't go I81. I go I85 to I95, take the Tysons Corner exit onto I495 and then take off I270 to Fredrick. Stay straight in Fredrick and it turns into RT15 and takes you right to Gettysburg. Get off onto Rt30 and head East about ten miles. You come into Abbottstown and turn right onto Rt94 (I think) and then go about one mile and take a left onto Racetrack Road. Go about a mile and the track is on the left.

Very easy to get to. Except for the last 10-15miles, the entire trip is on interstate quality roads. Coming back late at night, the traffic is not bad around DC.

That is actually the route to get to Winged Sprint Car Heaven (otherwise known as Harrisburg, PA or Central PA). You've got Lincoln, Williams Grove, Port Royal, Selinsgrove, Trail-Way and Susquehanna all within about an hour of each other.
