What sucks is that its 6:40 and radar that way is clear and the wouldn't have started until 7:30/8 anyway. They must have had a flood down there this afternoon

We were at Topsail Island and it rained on and off, left to come home around 1:00 and ran in to some heavy showers all the way back to Raleigh................ So I am sure it rained on and off all day there too.
Bladen County area received some heavy rain on Friday during the afternoon hours. Watching the radar, it appeared that DMS was missing some of the rain, but that was not the case. I came thru Tar Heel around 545 pm and had to slow to 40 mph due to heavy rain. Maybe we'll get in a race next week.

DRJ, you are correct. Bladen county got two different rain showers in the early afternoon, the last one around 3:00 PM. They had survived the first one, and the racing was still on. But the second rain band, was heavier than the first, and recovery was impossible.
This rain is being generated by a tropical low pressure off the south-east coast. Low-pressure systems spin counter clockwise, and that's what we're experiencing. A band may move off the ocean, rain, and appear to be "gone". The problem is, this cycle will repeat itself until this weather system has moved from the general area. It is, what it is. The other thing, a phenomena like this, will hurt FAN COUNT. Nobody will go because they think it migh rain, and they are probably right. It's just more complicated than if rain falling at any one moment in time.

This is true. I work 1 mile from the track. We had a couple of heavy rains yesterday afternoon. Not so much around race time but the damage had already been done.
