View Full Version : Harrell Takes $1,500 Late Model Victory at Fayetteville Speedway

Fayetteville, NC July 12, 2008- The HGR Late Models moved center stage this evening for a $1,500 to win showdown and 2008 points leader Shaun Harrell of Raeford showed the way in his Carolina Concrete Finishing-Midway Mini-Storage ride as he recorded his 7th win of the year as he held off a strong challenge from two time winner this year Wayne Gray Jr. in his WG Lot Clearing entry in a heated duel at times along the way to the wave of the checkered flag on this evening at Fayetteville Motor Speedway.(FMS) Former track champ D J Tyndall of Dunn finished third and remains second in the points chase for the year. Spring Lake’s Mike Mason was fourth for Mason Racing followed by Fayetteville’s upstart Ronald Hammond fifth. Defending Champ Willie Milliken of Leland had a tough go as he spin out in the final handful of laps and went behind the wall fir the evening. Harrell is looking real good in attaining his goal of a title in 2008 at FMS.

The Mid South Auto Recycling Open Wheel feature saw Andy Floyd of Vass hold off current 2008 point leader 18 year old Travis Yow of Fayetteville in his Al & Bobbie
Menscer Motorsports entry as Floyd got his 5th win this year. Yow had motor woes and still hold on for a runner-up finish on this night. Hank Edwards of Hope Mills ran third
for Williams Motorsports in Ash, NC followed by Timmy Blackwell of Grays Creek in the Granger Racing mount from Tabor City fourth in the final rundown. Defending champion
David Hart logged a fifth place finish for the show for the Carthage speed merchant..
Carlos Jaramillo is second to Yow in the points chase with Eric Menscer of Fayetteville in his Star Leasing machine is third after this evening of action. Hank Edwards
is fourth and 18 year old Jordan Taylor of Fayetteville is fifth in the chase as of mid July.

The Moffitt Machine Shop Super Street action once again saw defending champ Glenn “Fireball” Howard if Wade roar to the checkers for his 12 win this season as he
seeks another title at FMS and now has rolled up 102 career wins along the way in his racing career. Godwin standout Thomas Stewart chased Howard once again to the finish line and took another runner-up spot in the final tally for the show. Hope Mills hard charger Greg Bass Jr. took third spot followed by Vass hotshoe Scott Patterson fourth and former track champ Ricky Butler rolled up a fifth place night in his Silver Chevy ride.

Newcomer Ben Walker in his first start at FMS in the U Car action took the win as the Greensboro ace made the trip pay off as he held off A J Huffman and defending champ
Eddie Longhany on this evening. Greg Dull held off David “Cowboy” Nelson in a battle for the fourth and fifth spots in the final countdown.

The Young Guns class came out smoking and when the smoke had cleared it was Autryville’s Young Gun Jordan Tyndall walking off with another win holding off current
2008 points leader Zach Blackwell of Gray Creek at the finish line. Justin Pope placed third followed by upstart driver Chris Parker fourth and David Callahan fifth in the
showdown. .

The Enduro winner made a long trip from New York pay off as Paul Harding put his Harding Performance Chevy in the Dunn-Benson Ford winner’s circle as he left the field in a roaring victory over Wayne L and Guy Schimmel. Greg Pope finished fourth with fifth spot going to Mike Miltla in this Enduro show that Harding ran off with from the
drop of the green flag in a 25 lap showdown on this evening.

This Saturday night July 19 The action is set for another visit from The NAPA Crazy 8 Super Late Model Guys battling in the 2008 FMS point chase and Ricky Weeks of
Rutherfordton rolls to town coming off back to back Carolina Clash wins at FMS and Friendship Speedway in Elkin last Saturday evening.. Weeks will enter the duel holding a
90 point edge over 2002 Clash Champ Scott Autry of Fayetteville with 2001 Clash Champion Ed Gibbons of Manning and Gastonia’s defending FMS Super Late Model champ Jeff Smith locked up in heated battle for the third spot in the chase 2008 at FMS. Clash Rookie points leader Scott Neighbors of Spring Lake has posted a win in the action at
FMS and holds onto the fifth spot entering this week feature. All regular classes will be on card this Saturday night action. Gates to the Pits opens at 4 pm and 5 pm to the Grandstands. Remember Action is the MAIN Attraction at FMS weekly on the 4/10 clay oval. Catch NAPA Crazy 8 Fever this Saturday night for sure, you’ll see a lot of the top drivers in the Southland back at FMS.
