Hey Motorheads!
On Saturday night, July 12 there will be 1937 Chevy Modified Stock Car replica at FMS on display. I will run a few laps after 1st practice and have the car parked up on the concession strip afterwards with some other displays. If you know of any past drivers that remember the good ol' days of bare bones racing from the 1960's this old Modified is a blast from the past and would love to have some ol' timers come out to visit.
The car will be attending the Historical Racing Show at Darlington on Aug. 29-31 and need to get some seat time before taking it out at Darlington to hopefully run with some of the past NASCAR Legends, David Pearson, Junior Johnson, Buddy Baker, Cotton Owens and more.
So if you have an interest or know somebody that does pass the word along. Tomorrow night at FMS 1937 Chevy Modified Stock Car.
Cool!

Well it sounds like there's some enthusiasm for the vintage stuff, that's good to hear, sometimes it feels as though we forget about our heritage. Thanks for all the posts and hopefully you'll be seeing the "White Lightning" at FMS from time to time. I have a few friends with some really cool vintage modifieds that blow mine away, would sure like to see them show up for a little exhibition racing sometime. Ironically we all own `37 chevy Sedans, by chance only. If there's no photos taken I will try to get some posted. See ya at the track!!!

Your right on track davemac...
That was probably the car that was built for the movie "Greased Lightning" with Richard Pryor. If you've never seen the movie, it's really cool and Wendell had a lot to do with the filming of it. If it's in a museum looking like it needs face lift, it's probably the way the curator wants it to look; old and dusty.

Double Zero...if I knew ya a few days ago I would have gladly asked you to meet me there, I've seen your car photo before and think that is one COOL old mod, it looks great, I'm jealous!! LOL.
Great car man, you've made a tribute to all them past drivers.
Here's my email capefear01@earthlink.net drop me a line, I want to go back in August and try to "STAND ON IT" (DAVEMAC! LOL!) but the track was really rutted up in both turns and that was the first time I've had it out. Parts for these don't come easy so I took a few lack luster laps around.
Anyhow, I see you have a talent for restoring these cars, again, your car looks great and you owe it to the racing community to get it out there, people need to see that car first hand. I would like to see FMS invite us to have displays from time to time, it's a crowd pleaser for sure.
Send me an email, would like to see if you'd be interested in doing some display/exhibition laps.
One more thing...do you know about the Darlington Historical Race Show in late August? I'm going down with some Concord boys and their toys, would like you to come along with yours, maybe get a lap on the track there and meet Jr. Johnson, Cotton Owens, David Pearson and more.
Hope to hear from you.

That is awesome! It must be the real deal and looks like a 37 Chevy too. That gives me idea what paint scheme I could use since ol' Wendell is one my hero's, that guy had a lot of guts beyond racing. Thanks for posting the photo.
You know that message you have "STAND ON IT SON!", I thought that was meant for me last Saturday since I had a few guys basically say the same thing. LOL! That's funny right there!
If the track was a little slicker through those corners I was wanting STAND ON IT but it was a dang mess in the corners. I'd like to work that track for FMS, been working clay for over 25 years now, I'd get them corners right!!

If gas prices weren't so high I think I could get those boys down here for some racing. There's a few of them I know would show up.

It probably a matter of space...my other car is in the back yard under a tarp, the wife is happy it's not in the garage anymore but now hopes I sell it. I'm having seconds thoughts after this weekend and just got off the phone with Bobby, I think we've got more to do if ya know I mean.
