FASTRAK: ROAD TO $250,000 GRAND NATIONALS MAKES STOP AT I-77

CARNESVILLE, Ga. (July-10) The next stop on the FASTRAK Modern Chevrolet Southeast Tour is Saturday July 19 at the always well prepared I-77 Speedway in Chester SC. The famed 4/10ths mile high banked clay oval nicknamed, “the little diamond of the south” has established itself as one of the finer venues in the southeastern United States. Track owner Velma Mosely and promoter Joe Todd are a potent tandem who more often than not, routinely see everyone on both sides of the fence leave happy at the end of the day.

The FASTRAK Modern Chevrolet Southeastern Touring Series has seen nine different winners in its last nine events, something virtually no racing series in the country can claim. With each event, the level of competition seems to intensify. The most recent FASTRAK Series event saw winner Grant Jordan survive over 30 challenges for the win from runner up David Smith en route to claiming his first FASTRAK checkered flag of the year. With the FASTRAK Series $250,000 Grand Nationals in October on the horizon, I-77’s Mosley said “we’re always excited when the FASTRAK Series comes to I-77. The race fans that attend our events are so passionate and enthusiastic; the level of competition FASTRAK brings caters to what we have built here.

With $2000.00 going to the winner, also at stake; valuable FASTRAK Series Modern Chevrolet Southeast Touring points as well as FASTRAK City Chevrolet weekly division points. With so much on the line, and the road to the FASTRAK Series $250,000 Grand Nationals getting shorter, expect to see such competitors as Lee Cooper of Greer SC; Ron Parker of Lawndale, NC; Knoxville, TN’s John Llewellyn; Royce Bray of Hull, GA; Timbo Mangum of Lancaster SC; David Smith of Inman SC; Ty Lowe of Commerce, GA; Brandon Haley of Lavonia, GA, Chad Pearson of Athens, Ga and many others.

Other I-77 divisions in action will be the Rookie 4, Stock 4 and the always competitive Super Streets. Both the grandstands and the pits are slated to open at 4 p.m. Hot laps are tentatively scheduled to begin at around 7 p.m.

Qualifying will determine the top-12 starters for the FASTRAK Series Modern Chevrolet Touring Series feature, while the remaining positions will be filled through heat races and a last chance consolation race. The starting positions of the top-6 qualifiers will be determined by a redraw prior to the night’s headlining featured event.
Additional events will include an autograph session with FASTRAK Series drivers in front of the grandstands, and then later, fireworks will briefly fill the sky above the speedway as the starting field will pass below in the ever popular FASTRAK Series 4 wide salute to the fans.

Adult grandstand admission is just $10 with children 10 and under admitted free if accompanied by an adult. Pit admission is $20.

When this stellar night of racing concludes, everyone in attendance should know first hand, why FASTRAK and I-77 Speedway continue to grow, even in the current economy.
