The S.M.A.R.T Series prepares for Homecoming Havoc! Eastside Speedway

With the weather looking good, the action will heat up for the Steelblock Mid-Atlantic Racing Tour this Saturday night at Eastside Speedway. Some of the regions top steel block late models will be competing for the $1500 dollars against the best drivers that Eastside Speedway has to offer. Now don't think this will be a walk in the park by any means. Greg Roberson is coming of a 2 race win streak in the Eddie's Diesel Service rocket chassis this past Thursday night at Eastside Speedway as well as Natural Bridge on Saturday night. The “rocket man” looks to defend his home track against the steel block invaders.

The S.M.A.R.T series will be coming with both barrels loaded, you can rest assured. There will be no less than four regional track champion drivers in the field. Current S.M.A.R.T series point leader is the defending Late Model Champion for Winchester Speedway, Allen Brannon. Brannon has one victory in the series at Elkins Motor Speedway. Add to the list multiple Winchester Late Model track champion Gerald Davis. Davis is hot off a win last weekend at Winchester Speedway in one of the most exciting battles of the year. Defending Potomac Late Model Champion Derick Quade will be in the competition as well. Quade and Brannon have been atop the points battle early with both swapping the lead spot. Don't count out the County Line Raceway Late Model Champion Spencer Liggon. Liggon has shown he has the ability to get the job done as well. Add in some of the series' regulars and part time drivers like Louis Timberlake, Jared Almarode, Bubby Dillman, Jimmy Richards, Mitch Miller, Walker Arthur, Mark Parks, Louie Littlepage and Petie Coffey and this should be the “show” of the year.

As good as the S.M.A.R.T series competition list is, the list for Eastside Speedway is just as impressive. Current point leader Joey Leavell has an impressive five race win record already this year. The experience of defending Late Model Champion David “Hippie” Sibold is always hard to beat. Kristian Looney comes in with two race wins and Jon Painter, David Kieth and Buck Roadcap all share one win apiece. On any given night, the competition at Eastside Speedway is so close that it is hard to pick just who the winner will be.

The S.M.A.R.T series will start the evening off with a Meet and Greet with the series drivers for the fans and candy for the kids. Take the time to meet some of these drivers and get up close to the cars that they wheel every night. There will be fan interaction as well. Three lucky fans will be picked to determine who the “Maniac of the Race” will be. This award is for the driver that makes the boldest move of the race and is brought to you by the Steel Block Mania Forum. Also the Steel Block Mania Forum will be presenting one lucky fan and driver with a $50 gas card each. Stephens Lawn Service in Lyndhurst will once again be posting a $100 bonus to the fastest qualifier.

The gates will open at 4pm for pitside and 5pm for grandstand. The racing action will begin at 7pm.
Eastside Speedway is located on Rt. 340 North Waynesboro, Virginia.
