All I know is Billy is working hard to get the track right. I think he'll get it back right soon. I think between the rain and the power and grip from the supers really chewed it up.

From what I heard from some drivers, the track wasn't bad saturday night.. but the rain from saturday night and then all of the heat from sunday just made the track terrible.. i dont think it was poor prep i believe it was mainly weather...

The track was good saturday night and then the rain came and that soaked the track if you've worked alot of dirt then obviously you know that after the rain they had saturday night combined with the heat of the day and wind the track wasn't going to stay wet...Billy does a GREAT JOB!!! he can't control the weather i knew it wouldn't be long before poeple would get on her to throw there two cents...obviously you don't know that much about track prep...or you would know what the heat and wind do to a track....FMS did a great job giving us fans some racing to watch they worked as hard as they could to make sure we had a race to watch not many tracks would do that.Thanx Billy and FMS staff for all your hard work week in and week out poepl don't realize how hard ya'll work out there.

The bad thing about this, is people forget about this week to week when it happens at different tracks............

Yes, they came.....but consider DMS was closed Friday night, Clarys was cnx due to rain on Friday night, Hammerdown was closed on Sat night, and Lake View was cnx due to rain. If these tracks would have been opened or operated, alot of drivers/fans would have not came.......jmo

Oh, yes that it true. There was a large car count for FMS this weekend, not only for SLMs. I do agree there.

HAHA if lake view was the only track open i would get out of racing COMPLETELY and the track was like a slushi but it could have been rolled in it would have been good we all should be thankful that they redone it saturday they didnt have to do that for us

but still Billy is the only one that has been out there week after week workin on the track no one new yet

the track was decent saturday night up until the OWM's had their practice, they rutted it up a little bit but nothing like how bad it got sunday. With all the ditches and dust on sunday, it was almost not safe. On the start randall chupp hit some loose dirt going into turn 1 and you couldn't see over there until the last car went off turn 2. And that wreck in the early part...i couldn't even see the wrecked cars until the dust drifted off. I know your gonna have more dust with any day race at any track...but it was extreme to say the least.

im not downing fms at all but when they brought the cowchit and the sawdust in there it was great no dust and it stayed tacky but where did it go and i do know dirt you cannot fix a hole on a race track by just putting dirt on top of it you have to fix the hole one at a time then they will stay theres a little bit of hand work involved and thats not happening i know it rained but the degree of the banking and the right prep it wont hurt the track very much a little time and some tlc it would be a great track

see here's the thing about the track this weekend... no one had any idea that it was going to rain friday night.. but it just so happened that it did rain.. that was what really messed things up.. but billy got the track rolled in as good as he could saturday before the race.. but.. the rain started.. and the race was moved to sunday.. everyone knows a track cant stand up to a dry, hot day... billy works on that track constantly..

I will guarantee anyone, that Fayetteville Speedway feels just as bad about that as anyone.............

Yeh it didn't help that once they rain start they kept running on it hard it was soft with that steady drizzle and that probably had an affect on it...But billy did a great job considering all things rain, sun, wind on the track,800 horses diggin in...great job billy.

As stated to me by Larry Blankenship and Dan Breuer they rather have a rough racetrack than race on a dry slick track. With the rains saturday night and racing under the sun on sunday and adding water to the track to keep the dust down any racetrack would have had some racing surface problems. FMS had a great turnout of cars and fans and they will return. Thanks to everyone for coming out and supporting FMS.

It seems as if the fans complain more about the track conditions than the drivers. I think most drivers that have been at this for a while have seen it all and have come to expect just about anything.

it werent pretty but if you look at every class one of the best DRIVERS won in just about every class...the track conditions were poor for everyone, but like rb said, the good drivers have seen it all and CAN deal with it and with any luck the good ones dont get mixed up with the throttle jockies who just think they can deal with it by mashing the gas....DID SOMEONE ELSE MENTION IT WAS BS ABOUT NOT LETTIN THE OWM REQUALIFY?ESP.AFTER THEY WERE TOLD SO...TRACK DID A GREAT JOB JUST TO GIVE SAT NIGHT HOPE FOR A RACE AND TO PULL IT OFF SUNDAY,BUT THE OWM GUYS DESERVED A HECK OF ALOT BETTER THAN WHAT THEY GOT.....YOU WOULDNT HAVE EVEN RUN THE ENDUROS IN THAT CRUD THEY QUALIFIED IN...NICE JOB OVERALL FMS ,but you blew it on the owm decision...jmo

bingo rb;
the more years you race the more you see, and I have been at this for many, many years now. I have seen tracks slick over, I have seen tracks with water standing the corners, I have seen track so rough cars were air born more then on the track..................we raced Hagerstown 1 year in February and the track was frozen ,but we raced it.
Theres no way any promoter wants nothing more then a good race for the fans and good track for the drivers . sometimes that don't happen, but all you can do is pull the belts down a little tighter and go for it.

Most of the OWM were there at noon, qualify us at 1 and the show goes on as planned....

I agree with BBQ on this one, I would've been fine if they hadn't of said anything, but they did and set expectations and then backed out. I'm more upset about that than the track conditions. Enough said from me.......

so your saying that the track officials are ok to mislead everybody?...they should have never said it if they didnt mean it....they all new of the chance of rain on sunday too...they should have never qualified them on sat night....and how long does it take to qualify 10 owm cars at 1 lap intervals running 22 second laps anyway???Im sure the owm guys would have gotten there a few minutes earlier on sunday if told to do so.at most it would have taken about 15/20 min to requalify...like i said hats off for getting the program in,but a big booooo for doggin the owm guys...there was time and options to do what they said they would do,they just chose not to.no defending the defenseless

Don't mislead anyone....If you're going to let the times stand, let them stand. Don't tell everyone we're going to requalify and don't just to the cars back out there. If we knew the times weren't going to stand, we were going to stay home. We knew it would be tough coming from the back to the front and knew the track was going to be rough. So when we heard they were going to let us requalify we pulled the almost 100 miles (at close to $5/gal) to be there in hopes to better our qualifying spot. We got there early, because we actually thought we might qual before the 2pm start. But we didn't .... All I want is for them to back what is said and yes I did have a conversation with Longhany about it along with Carlos.

They were excited the whole field was within .4/sec from each other. He also said he never told anyone they were going to requalify the Open Wheels....

Enough said..... My blood pressures going up..... Hope to have her fixed and be back Saturday. What's done is done.......
