what yall dont understand it the man is BROKE he dont have no more money because if he did the track would still be open and that health problems that is BS thats just a cover up because he dont have the guts to tell everyone he dont have the money and cant afford to run the track plain and simple if I owned 311 and I had health problems I would get someone to run the track for me my grandparents used to own 311 speedway and they had plenty of money and they had health problems but they didnt shut it down because of that reason so just to tell yall he is BROKE

Did hear Bobby say that he was having someone come down and look at making a smaller track inside to run go-carts on on Friday nights and run the regular races on the 1/2 mile on sat. nights. He also said he may open back up in a couple of weeks, but that is what I heard him say so take that as you like. I would just like to see some racing there again, but I'll beleive it when I see it.

Well its not a rumor. The last time I talked to him prob 3 weeks ago he told me he was thinking about making it a 3/8. What he does it or not I dont know, he mighta been blowing smoke to get people talkin who knows.

I have never been to 311 , but from what I've heard about the Speedplant it was an Awesome Place , I would say leave it like it is and open it back up , I was hoping to get up there later this year , anyway Good Luck and hope racing comes to life there soon . JMO ...

its one of the best facilities around this area and the closest for me but now its not running so i guess ill do what i always do andtoss a dart and pick which track i run at but gotta fix car hauler now it broke on the way home from fayetteville i didnt get home till 630 sun morn

Well, Bobby Johns [or whatever his real name is] might as well shorten the track, he has done everything possible to ruin the track. It's very disturbing that a track the calibur of 311 to be subject to such a "business man" as the one who has it now. Many people myself included, have a speacial place in our heart for the track, many years ago I cut my first laps in a race car on that track. Some things you never forget. In my opinion from a speed stand point, it hurt the track when they rounded the back straight-a-way. It slowed it down considerably and now rumors of making it a 3/8 . Who knows, I honestly don't believe bobby could operate a lemonade stand without screwing something or somebody up.

Everyone had the same agurments when they said they were gonna shorten Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney SC. Ask those people how much better the racing is now.

i agree dirty the only time people would complain is if the track came apart for a super race but french and bobby are trying to take away part of our racing up here! i just hope 311 comes back and would love to see fork mountain/oak level back to then u'd have a good 3/8mile on friday nite with the oak and a good 1/2 mile track sat at 311 now that would be great to see both of the tracks up and running again i really think that there is alot of racing left to do at both of the tracks so that we will have somewhere to go without driving 1 an1/2 hrs each way up to arat or freindship plus the way things are up there they had jus as soon wreck as race frome what i have heard an i jus wish that some of these idiots that drive so stupid would jus think about what they are doin i reckon they dont realize they are putting somebodys life in danger!

don't tell that to about 7/8 of the tracks around the country. there are 4 to 1 smaller tracks in the country then there are tracks a half a mile or bigger

And alot of the bigger tracks are shortening their tracks and some at the drivers request.

I guess im one of the few that would love to see it 3/8 or 4/10's . As someone said, it is easier on the motor. Makes it more of a track that leaves it up to the driver more then having a million dollar motor that can out run good motors on a straight away. Short tracks are fun. And as one person said a few posts back. I dont care what it is, 1/4 mile or 1 mile. We just want it open AND RAN PROPERLY. Im begining to like Friendship. So when it does open back up, if goober smoocher is still running it and hasnt had a wake up call to change his ways. My whole family dont mind driving and extra hour to be treated fairly.

And something i find amusing that i know alot of people do, is reading some of these posts and listening to some of these people who cant form a sentence or use spell checker or something and dont have a clue to whats what at a race track. 9 times out of ten its a concrete racer. But, it is funny sometimes, and im sure some just dont know any better. I know I am not perfect.

Still fail to see the advantage of shortening the track. As far as I know 311 is the only 1/2 mile in NC. If you want a 4/10 or 3/8, you have places to race, Friendship, Fayetteville, County Line, Clary's... Personally I enjoy watching the race on a longer track, don't get me wrong, I like the shorter tracks too, but I like to have the option of different length tracks to go to. What happened to the rumor a few weeks ago that he was going to build a shorter track inside the half mile to run carts on? Just wondering if thats where all this talk came from. I wouldn't mind that idea except what about the pit area?
