I dont know the exact time. But i know the Super Late Model record wont ever be broken. Its in the low 15's back when they used to run the big wings on the cars. My dad tells me that they could flat foot it around there back in the day. He has see alot of racing too. He says racing is no where near where it was back then, as far as speed and pure Balls. But the technology has improved.

105 is fast in a normal car, can only imagine what thats like on dirt . Some one had some guts to push it that fast.

I asked my dad and he said that last he knew David Boggs had it. And he didnt think any one would ever touch it, unless they let the big sprint cars go for it.

I have talked to four people that would remember that era and still say " DAVID BOGGS " still has the record at 105.486 mph , two of them have said that " Charlie Swartz " came close at 102.895mph . Just to refreash your mind " DAVID BOGGS " was from Wake Forest NC and drove a Yellow Wedge Car with a Blue Number Seven .

I'm just curious, how as the track changed since those days, if any. What's the biggest difference in the cars then and now? I understand todays car have more precise components , such as shocks, chassis, etc...would it be possible for someone to come along with the right set up and come close, if not break the old track record?

I really dont think the track has changes the length hasnt. The surface is different, but like they have said the record was with those old wedge cars. They were way different than nowadays. I dont think anyone has the guts to do wat they did back then.

when you say wedge, you're including the big wings too, right?

they had the big wings. but the cars had a big "wedge" for a nose.

I would say if the track configuration is still the same meaning banking and length and the track crew gets it prepped real good it is most differently possible..............
#1 those older cars didn't have all the trick equipment that we run today.......(bars & pickups bars, a- frames and the list goes on
#2 the engine of today is lighter, stronger and turns more rpm's with more horse power per pound then they had.
I don't know what they weighed back then but we are 2300lbs, and about 800 horse power from an all aluminum and titanium motors
I'LL go out on the limb and say yes that the track record could be jeopardizes if the track is to same as it was with little to no changing to it.

:05Cool: and some of this :secret: stuff :laying20laughing:

hope this puts some light on what you are asking for.

I have been trying find out the other records for the other Divisions along with some other information and some phonecalls , The Super Six-Cylinder record holder is between three drivers : Freddie Query ( #6 Coors ) , Ernie Irvan ( #15 Crown Video ) , Ellis Ward ( #1 Stewart Olds ) speed & time is unknown . If anyone has anything concrete on the Super Street , Pure Stock ( some say it could be Jerry Johnson #98 ) , Four-Cylinder Modified ( some say it could be Bruce Raynor #99 Hudson Brothers ) and Open Wheel Modified Divisions . I would like to know myself sinse I've been away from Dirt Racing from the '89 thru '06 Seasons . If you know Please share with us . :BustinAss:

well i remeber when my dad Corky williams had the so called street stock record at 16:28 back about 21 years ago when he drove for Albert bass's B5. that car was totally awesome, it was a wicky bone(h&h race cars) new style chassis and was far ahead of its time. but like has been stated the track today is not a fast as it use to be. the motors back then for that class were basically a steel head late model motor. dang this bring back some memories.

i know that ther was no wall down at the bottom of the track back then when my dad raced out there so i don't know if they were takinga shorter way around the race track or what.i think the track was a little flatter back the i got some video of racing back around 86-87 its crazy the didn't have stop lights they had a string the ran from opne telephone pole to another with colored light bulbs on it i think. and hardle no light ou there.
