Fayetteville, NC June 28, 2008- Fayetteville Motor Speedway (FMS) got back to exciting Saturday night dirt track action for all it’s regular classes on this Saturday night on the clay oval and it was a good night for some of the drivers as they come away with big wins.

Defending Moffitt Machine Shop Super Street champion Glenn “Fireball” Howard of Wade chalked up his ninth win of the year as he powered his Camaro to his 100th career victory and increases his points lead as he seeks another crown at Fayetteville’s clay oval. Howard out ran former champ Ricky Butler of Fayetteville in his Silver Bullet Chevy for this win. Godwin’s upstart Thomas Stewart placed third but holds onto the runner-up spot in the points chase for the year. Jim Henley Sr. of Fayetteville had his best showing this year with a fourth place finish and hard charging Derrick Hilliard was fifth and has moved to fifth in the point battle in his Hilliard Racing Chevy machine. Howard has proven again he’s the man to beat weekly in this class at FMS for sure as he loves that Dunn-Benson Ford Winner’s Circle weekly.

“Hurricane” Hank Edwards of Hope Mills finally got his Williams Motorsports entry out of Ash, NC hooked up and roared to his first win of the season in the Mid South Auto Recycling Open Wheel Mod feature Edwards had by far his best outing this year in the Mitchell Williams Plant Works entry as the multi time FMS champion held off a tough Timmy Blackwell of Grays Creek in his Granger Racing mount out of Tabor City, NC at the finish line. 2008 points leader 18 year old Travis Yow took the Pumpkin Pierce Chassis ride for Big Al & Bobbie Menscer his car owners celebrating their 60th anniversary to a third place finish on this night for Star Leasing. Look for July to be very interesting for all the classes for sure as the weather gets warmer and so does the action at FMS.

The 2008 HGR Late Model points leader Shaun Harrell of Raeford held off a pair of former FMS champions in the Late Model battle as Harrell kept 2007 Late Model champion Willie Milliken of Leland at bay early on and later in the action held his ground over 2006 Late Model champ D J Tyndall of Dunn as the checkers waved on Harrell in his Carolina Concrete Finishing-Midway Mini Storage machine for the 6th time this year. Harrell now has a 158 point lead over Tyndall going to this week showdown.

Tyndall is back after some motor woes and so is Milliken both looking a way to unseat Harrell in the chase along with Fayetteville’s Denton Little who is third in the points entering July battles. Harrell has been strong right out of the box this season. Wayne Gray Jr. is holding down the fifth spot in the chase this year.
