Where were the Emts tonight at County Line? What is the ruling on have Medical Personel present when there is racing. How long would it take help to get to the track? I an not familar with the town or where anything is, I was a little uneasy that there was no one there should there had been a need for them. Is this a volunteer service? I feel that that is one thing every track should have is Medical trained people to help in case there is a problem. Just having them there even if they are not need is better than not having them and there be a need. I have never been to a race a Clarys or County Line and not seen the Emts. be there. I ask a staff member and was told that they were suppose to come but I never saw them were they there and I just did not see them or did they just not come. Is this going to be something that will continue to happen or will there be Emts to the race track in the future? Not bitching just very concerned.:Yell:

Someone(EMS) provides a beneficial and necessary service basically for free...
Someone who is full of crap talks crap about that service, like the past week.
How long do you expect that service to hang around when being badmouthed?
... I just hope the EMS personnel that we have had out here helping us dont let themselves be discouraged by the few crybaby sour apples that need some cheese with their wine. 99% of us appreciate you being there greatly.

Not very long. but is it not the tracks responibility to make sure there is medical personel at the track to take care of problems that may arise and believe you me I do not need any cheese with my whine for I am not complaining about the emts just why was there not any there. Thank you. Nor am I talking crap about anyone track or emts. just what happens if there is an accident and no one is there to take care of it. I an not comfort with there being no one trained to handle a problem where lives may be at stake.:Kill2:

1. we do have trained EMT's there everyweek. toisnot rural VFD is there every week.
2. we do have a few of the drivers that are there that are EMTs as well so we do have them if need be. i dont know where the ambulance was last night, but we always have atleast 1 if not more trained EMTs at the track

This is a crock of crap Wesley and you know it. The fire dept is NOT medically trained. If I have done my homework, I do believe that you have to have a ambulance there. I do believe that insurance said something about the fans/crews/ drivers or something being the functioning EMTs without an operable ambulance there ( or at least thats what a good source told me 2 yrs ago). I took a night off to be with my family.
and yes, this is a volunteer service. Elm City doesnt charge for any transport, we do not get paid for our services any day of the week, we have to pay for our diesel that is almost $5 a gallon now, we have to pay for our supplies, we have to pay for our uniforms, and not one penny is charged to a patient.
At the beginning of the year, I said I would make sure that we had a unit out there for sanctioned events. Last night was not a sancationed event. I did not get a call from the track at no time last night. I did have a crew on stand by incase they were needed.
Basically, to sum this up... we VOLUNTEER to go out there each week. As I said before, we do make a few bucks, and its appreciated. I enjoy the races at county line as well. I have made some friends out there, and I am sure I have pissed some folks off out there.
Its hard to find people that want to go out due to the past record. Just in the 2 yrs that I have been covering the track, I have personally experienced a cussing from a driver that I would be afraid of what would happen if he kissed his mother with that mouth, I have been sprayed with mace last year, I was caught between a fight with a lead pipe and a knive, we have been bashed on this board, I have been threatened with a lawsuit, and I have taken time from my family. However, this year, I have no incidents and for the most part, people have been good to us. I do appreciate that!!!
So everyone take the week off, get your cars back together, cool the tempers, have a safe Fourth of July and we shall see yall the following week!!!:icon_blahblah:

Thank you. I knew that there was suppose to be medical trained people there other than drivers that are emts. for if even if they are there to assist they have no way to transport. SO WHY NOT HAVE THE EMTS THERE ON STANDBY ALL THE TIME. BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY.

As I stated, I took the weekend with my kids.... I never received a call from the track asking for a unit. In our dept, we normally dont work on Friday and Saturdays (at this time) and so therefor, Wilson Co covers Elm City area. So when we do cover on Saturday nights, we have to work til 5am and trying to find someone to volunteer to work on a Saturday night from 7p-5a and go to a dirty race track is a joke. I have had some luck this year with the captain of the dept going out with me each week.
See ya in 2 weeks!

I can not speak for North Carolina, I damn sure sure for Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, Maryland. Before any car goes on the track for ANY REASON both a fire truck of some size, can be a bush truck but a fire truck and an ambulance with certified EMT's on will be present if not very thing stays in the pits until they arrive to the track, period, flat out.
# 1 It's common sense, but I also realize the lack of good judgment in some people.
# 2 Most all insurance, if not insurance company's require fire truck and ambulance in place at race tracks and large public gatherings...........
# 3 If you do not see any safety equipment, go to the promoter and ask him where it is, and while your at it ask him if he has an insurance policy that cover both driver and spectators. If he fails to satisfy you, call your State Insurance Commissioners office and ask them if track *ABCD* has insurance and whats it value. then its just a matter of public record...............

weather or not the man sitting next to me in the grandstand or the driver of the firetruck or the driver of the xyz car is trained. Answer this, where they going to get the defibrillator machine, oxygen, or other supplies and different things only a ambulance carries on board. that are needed for emergencies.................

I think you misunderstood my post or either I wasnt clear enough. I was not referring to you or your opening post in this thread at all and sorry if it came across that way. I was talking about the post/thread made last week by someone else where the ambulance service was being questioned for [supposedly] being slow to get on the track. They were not slow in my opinion. I sat there and watched them from the time they were called for and was impressed with how fast they got out there last week and the critique from last week was uncalled for. Anyway, sorry for the confusion there.

thats ok. I guess I was quick to answer without really reading it the way it should have been read. I just am concerned about this issue. I know that it must be a hard job to have everything the way it is suppose to be but in my book safety for the drivers must be the first concern. whatever anyone elses opinion is my concern is for drivers for my son is one of those drivers.:anima40:

The post I made the other week about the long time for help to get to the driver in turn three was NOT to put down the EMTs. It was made to get everyone to put thier heads together and make it possible for the EMTs to DO thier job BETTER! If you can't post without putdowns then please don't post! AS for me, I'd like to start helpping the EMTs by asking wilder " What can I do to help YOU" and again I thank our EMTs and will gladly support them anyway they want!

Maybe you should learn to read the EMTs were not put down. The question was ask why they were not there and the lead emt said she was not called this thread was not to put anyone down THERE WAS NO ONE THERE TO HELP THE DRIVERS!!!!!!!!!! What is your problem this post had nothing to do with your post. You should have ask her that to begin with. this was not to insult or put anyone down. I have never been to County Line or Clarys and the emts not be there I was concerned for the safety of the drivers nothing else re-read the first part of the post before jumping to conclusions. end of conversation.

The biggest thing you can do is make sure there is a CLEAR drive around the outside of the pits and on the inside pits. If you are a driver or fan, when you park cars behind my ambulance, I have to wait on you to move it. When you park your cars in the aisle way, then I have work my way around them. Kids that run around when I am trying to work my way thru the pits. A response time is only as good as yall let us be. I stay close to the ambulance for the most part when I am there. If I aint close to it, I have what I need to get started in my pockets and its sit up for who can drive the ambulance to me.
I do enjoy being at CLR. However, I dont have to go out and cover a track if I choose not to. As stated before, I am in NO contract to do this. I do it because I like the drivers and most of the fans. I wouldnt want my son out there racing without some kind of medically trained personel on the grounds. I would like to continue to cover the track. If there is anyone that can do the job better, please let me know. We have a ride along program at Elm City EMS, and I would be glad to let anyone, over the age of 18, ride along with us as we pull duty.
Just to clear it up, I am not looking for public appreciation or anything else. I love what I do and when I see that I have helped someone, thats is satisfaction enough. We got a email from the young lady in the sprint car 2 weeks, that is what makes my job as good as it is to me. Seeing the difference that you make when someone needs you.
Anyways, hopefully things can be worked out and we will be out there in 2 weeks. If not, then I will be in the stands at some race some where... wouldnt be the same not eating clay each Saturday!:mfight1:
