GAFFNEY - A man cleaning a trailer used to haul a race car received an electrical shock that sent him to the hospital Friday morning.
Emergency workers said Matthew Addis was using a pressure washer while standing on top of the enclosed unit when his equipment touched a power line.
Addis was airlifted to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center and admitted to the intensive care unit, where he was listed in serious condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.
He was injured about 8:30 a.m. at the residence of Chris Madden, on Morris Drive off Beaverdam Road.
Responding firefighters had to climb on top of the enclosed trailer, where the injured Addis had fallen.
The trailer is towed behind another vehicle to carry the race car Madden drives at area dirt tracks
