LINCOLNTON, NC - Officials from the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series would like to announce a schedule change for the month of July.
Friendship Speedway in Elkin, NC will be added July 12th for a $4,000 to win 40 lap event. Originally the nine year old racing series was supposed to be at Toccoa Speedway in Toccoa, GA on July 12 but officials have changed to schedule to incorporate the new event at Friendship.
"Phil Hall and his staff at Friendship Speedway have done a phenomenal job in adding dirt back to the surface," said Carolina Clash President Larry Lee. "We worked with Friendship all winter long to try and secure a few dates for them but the timing was never right to be able to schedule something earlier in the year. That Greensboro/Winston Salem market is one that we have been out of for a couple of years so when the chance to get back up there presented itself we had to take it," continued Lee. "We have noting but the utmost respect for Randy McCoy and Toccoa Speedway," said Lee. "Toccoa Speedway is an awesome race track but the timing just was not in our favor to be able to pull of both events. We got so far behind in the early part of the year because of all the rain outs we are still trying to catch back up. We look forward to going back to Toccoa in the future and seeing all those great race fans that make that place so special," said Lee.
Friendship Speedway was long been a staple on the Carolina Clash tour until they paved the facility in 2003. Among the winners of Carolina Clash events at the 4/10 mile oval include; Mike Duvall, Phil Hall, Jeff Smith, Ricky Boahn and Billy Hicks.
"We wanted to be able to host a Carolina Clash race as early as we could," said Friendship Speedway promoter and former racer Phil Hall. "We are hosting one of the final 'Championship Series' events and we really wanted to be able to offer the competitors a chance to come and get set up for that event. The race fans up here have been wanting a Carolina Clash event for some time now and we are very excited that we can bring that to them."
The 'Clash' tour will also be on hand September 6 with a $5,000 to win 50 lap main event.
