The S.M.A.R.T Series “All Out Assault” on County Line Raceway
The steel block late model action should prove to be as hot as the weather this Saturday June 14th as the Steelblock Mid-Atlantic Racing Tour unleashes at County Line Raceway in Elm City, North Carolina. With only one race in the books for 2008, this is a key race for the $10,000 points championship. With the victory at Elkins Motor Speedway, Allen Brannon sits atop the points championship by only 20 points over Derrick Quade.
When asked about the North Carolina stop this weekend, series director Chris Hammer said “ We are looking forward to bringing the excitement to County Line Raceway this weekend. The racing and competition at County Line as well as North Carolina should prove to be tough for the S.M.A.R.T regulars. James Upchurch and the crew at County Line have done some quality improvements over the winter and I am looking forward to a great show!”. The new clay surface put down over the winter has proved to be fast and very racy. Improvements to the walls were also done to make County Line the place to race this weekend.
“ James Upchurch has been a pleasure to work with to put this show together. We have put together a good purse that pays better tow money. The expenses of fuel right now are hurting all of us. Anything we can do to help, we will” stated Hammer. Mr. Hammer also explained that the format of the series is to provide bigger races and opportunities for more money to the local drivers as well. “This is not a 100% exclusive touring series. We have broadened our rules so that the local competitors can run with us and run competitive. We feel that a series should be able to give back to the track and it's competitors. We like to think of it as the “us versus them” promotion. Most of the weekly tracks now have drivers that are extremely talented and tough. We welcome them to race with us, we want to give them an opportunity to show how tough they really are”.
The format for Saturday's event will include a meet and greet session prior to the racing brought to you by Local Race Chat. S.M.A.R.T will have some of their drivers there for autographs and picture opportunities as well. The S.M.A.R.T feature will headline the evening as well as Pure Stock 4cylinder, Super Stock 4 cylinder, Pure Stock v-8 and Cadets.
