Usually Kevin takes then, I guess since James posted the rundown that he did not make it out to the track. Tas usually will go down and take them though.

If you can't find a full-time photographer (and if you're looking, good luck with that), the track should invest in an entry-level SLR camera with a decent flash. That's all it takes for winner photos. Heck, grab a used one. Nikon D40 preferably. It would be easy to show Tas or someone how to use it.

In absence of a more experienced photographer, the track could use the camera to capture those moments and have something to offer to their winners.

Rhett about how much would one of those cameras cost?

Used, on Craiglist in the Raleigh area:

http://raleigh.craigslist.org/search/sss?query=nikon%20d40

I wouldn't pay more than $300 for the camera that included a lens to do what's needed for winner photos. Flash will cost a bit extra.

The D-40 is a good entry level Camera, it's great for day shots and still photos at night. Not much for catching action under low light though.

I'm going to upgrade next year and I won't have any use for the D-40 I have now, if you don't get one sooner let me know, I'll part with it less than $300.00 by then, with a few extras to go with it.

The D-40 camera body itself isn't that much of a limiting factor for low light action shots. It's everything you put on it and around it that makes the most difference.

As most of you know, I've been having health problems. They've continued to get worse over a period of years, and it gets harder and harder to make it down there, especially lately. Heck, its getting difficult just to get up and drive down the street to the store. I've already suggested that it would serve the track if they got another photographer. The way things are going, I don't think there is any way I can continue. In fact I was going to try to reach James tonight to talk to him about it. I love racing and being a part of it, and have grown to like County Line and the people there very much. But you need a photographer that can be there every week. I'll miss everybody there and going to the races in general because if you haven't guessed already, I am no longer able to work. Please say a prayer that I will eventually get better. Thank you.

Hang in there Kevin. I hope you're feeling well soon. You've done an excellent job supporting CLR with your photography. I'm not sure most folks understand the amount work that goes into this.

Kevin, pictures will be lost and misplaced, but friendships remain. You've made lasting bonds with lots of people at CLR. We are more concerned about you getting better than you being able to be at the track. We know that you'd love to be right there with us at CLR, but the most important thing is that you take care of yourself and get well.

Seems like a whole lot of wasted time and effort right now. I've done pics for over 50 races at CLR since I started doing it in May '05, taken and posted over 11,000 pics, drove close to 14,000 miles and destroyed my car. And since I started taking pics in general in November '04, I've taken and posted almost 29,000 pics from tracks from SC to PA. Now what? I still want to take racing pics when I feel good enough but there's only one track within 85 miles of me and I've been banned from the infield there (its asphalt anyway), plus it takes money to get places and pay for pit passes and you don't make a whole lot when you can't work a regular job.

AND CAN SOMEONE GIVE ME JAME'S CELL PHONE NUMBER. I've asked people twice before and got the run-around. You can PM me or e-mail me (khf71@comcast.net). Thanks.
