The skyline trip was great!

We got there just a little bit late (why do folks feel the need to drive so slow in the hammer lane?)… but still got to see some GREAT racing!

According to the guy setting next to us, there were 47 SLM in the pits- we missed the time trials and first heats, but seen the rest of the show. 2 consi’s - (which were just a hint of the action we were going to see), dash for starting position, 3 heats of FWD 4-cyc, 3 heats of like pure stock, 2 heats of super street, 3 heats of OWM and 3 heats of sprints.

After a short break, they started the features. The 50 lap, $5,000 to win, IRS sanctioned, rapid refund speed week SLM race was unbelievable! We watched them go 4 wide all around the track - and never touch! I would have to say that this SLM race would rank in the top 3 that I have ever seen. The #10 (larry bond) was running a line higher the “wild thing” usually tries! I swear there were sparks coming off his spoiler exiting turn 2! We never did figure out the double file restarts… the 30 was running 2nd when the first caution happened and it looked like on the restart he was lined up 6th???? Balzano and the 62 put on an awesome show as well. Josh McGuire took the win followed by Robbie Blair and Eddie Carrier Jr.

They started 20 some FWD 4-cyc. Now let me tell you, those folks were serious!

One guy in the pure-stock, barrel rolled into turn 2, got out, threw some parts of his car back into what was left of his car and waited on the wrecker to come pick him up. LOL

We didn’t get to see the 33 car run in the super street (or whatever they call it), but there was some great action for having less than 10 cars in their feature. Just didn’t seem the same without seeing the 7, 11, 99, 2, 01, 98, 34, 05, 4, 3, 11J, 82 and 16 out there… I think they would have given them a run! Maybe we need to work something out??????

The track was in excellent shape. But, by the time the night was over, a serious rut developed in the bottom, between turns 1 and 2. Might have had something to do with all those sprints fighting for the bottom…

No scoreboard and the flagman was very hard to see. The entire show was over by 12:30 - impressive job! However, after 900 miles of hard driving, $4.19 gas, no cooler, no 50/50 tickets and no stadium seats - - - I’m ready to go back!

brick tester should be hitting that track every Friday night! - - oh, yea, it’s hard to find…..LOL

If you ever get the chance to catch a race at Skyline Speedway, I would highly recommend it!

It was still good to get home to Clary’s…
