Early season Semi-Late dominator Allen Brannon, returned to the Late Models again this week, and it was his machine that was up front when the green flag flew over the field. Gerald Davis began his charge as he took it to Mike Hardy for second early, along with Tommy Armel who was also strong before eventually falling out with mechanical issues.
After dispatching the Hardy machine, Davis began to track down the leader. Once there, Davis and Brannon began a spirited duel for position before Davis took the spot.
And then following a caution, what could only be called as Winchester's version of the Talladega “Big One” occurred when contact between Kris Eaton and Shane Coffey saw Coffey spin, Brad Omps would collide hard with the Coffey machine and get airborne, also taken out in this accident was Mitch Miller.
The red flag flew as it took some time to clean up the wreckage on the frontstretch. At the green it was Davis leading Brannon, with Jared Powell in the third spot, Powell attempting to move into the second position had to get on the binders, ending up three wide down the backstretch and then spinning in turn three, he would continue following the incident.
After that Davis was able to stretch his lead over Brannon and take his second feature win of the year over Allen Brannon, Mike Hardy, Kris Eaton, and Walter Crouch rounded out the top five.
Heats for the 19 Late Models were won by Jared Powell and Gerald Davis.
