Well Phil Hall is going to be the next ***** Johns. Everyone paid extra to see the Supers run 30 laps but due to the show running long he shortened the race to 20 laps, which I don't agree with. If he would have started on time instead of almost an hour and a half late there would have been plenty of time to run the full show. I think he had other options instead of messing up the race everyone wanted to see. It was good racing overall but there were plenty of unhappy fans and serveral wanting part of their money back and I don't blame them. Maybe they need to water the track before 6 o'clock and we could have seen all of the racing.

My grandma and me are some of those fans that'd like my chunk of change back. We went specifically to see the supers run, because if they hadn't been running we would've stuck to our regular Saturday night and went to 311. It's bad enough cutting the crates by 5 laps, but cutting your main event by 10 laps... come on. I hate to say that I don't see myself going back anytime soon if they can't manage to get their show on the road.

Why was it started so late?? I heard some people from South Carolina talking at a local store and they said the dust was the worse they had ever seen and they wouldn't ever be back.

I don't know this for sure, so don't hold me to it, but I thought Friendship had a midnight curfew.:confuzeld: If that's the case, maybe they cut it short to allow for the last class to run. The 4-cyl people paid the same $ as everyone else to get in the pits, so they deserved to run their feature. As for the supers.....they could've run those extra laps with the same end result....those boys in the front were getting it! As for the dust....I'll take it over the asphalt anyday:wings_biggrin:

I understand that the 4 cyl paid the same as everyone else, but the majority of people came to see Supers and if some of the drivers were saving their equipment for the last ten laps or so then by him cutting the laps like he did messed them up. Nobody knows for sure if anyone had something for Meadows now or not and never will. I just think he could have ran the show better, if he is going to have a curfew then he needs to do his part and start on time.

Well those people, I hope are dirt fans to drive that far. Just going on what they said said. ""It was the worse they had ever seen". And the curfew was something mangement put in. There wasn't a curfew when it was asphalt.

I thought the new ownership knew how to put on a show? Thats was awful. When do they start watering down the track? 30 mins before show time? Where is the refund booth:13Confused:

Well im sure alot of the people where there to see the supers but they have rules just like everybody else even if they are supers.. If you cant run your race in so many minutes then they cut it short..Its like this at every track ive ever been too. the longest green flag run they had was 4 laps...they prob run 40 laps under caution so you got to see a 60 lap race..And if you think another 10 laps was gonna make a difference then you crazy because there was no passing going on what so ever.. Top 6 cars finshed pretty much where they started and behind that it was cars with mangled sheet metal.. And medows was in a league of his own...if you think not then i dont guess you seen quaifying...almost a 1/2 second quicker than noel.

The track was dusty but you will have that every now and then...

Also congrats to Q on a good run for the first time out this year..

Yes I saw qualifying Meadows ran 15.983 and Noel ran 16.012 that is not a half second but anyway if you were racing you would not like it if they cut the race like they did. And you can't say the Supers took that long crates took their fair share of time also.

Well if i was running the super race i would have been glad they cut it short because at the rate they where going there could have been quite a few more cars tore up in that extra 10 laps then you people could be bitching about you couldnt belive it took that long to run and all the cars they tore up because they they kept trying to run and so on.. And just so you know they did cut the crate race short by 5 laps and i was happy with that as well cause i only had 4 lbs left in the rr tire.

And at the drivers meeting Phil apogized about the track and said he was sure the track was gonna dry out as it did... It had over 70 cars on it tonight so i would expected a little dust.

Dirtracer87
05-25-2008, 01:42 AM
I understand there could have been more cars torn up and sometimes it is in your favor to shorten the race, but I race also so there are advantages and disadvantages to the race being shortened. But the fans want to see the entire race so look at it from their eyes.

Dust Comes with dirt raceing especialy with a new track.I think that it was a great night of raceing as a (FANS point of view).Everyone knows when the supers start to pound the ground and with such a large field of cars on the track at one time its gonna get DUSTY.As far as the track shortening the race it probably saved alot of crew's from having to work on there car's. If you dont like dust then go to a paved track...

Friendship had a few problems with dust but it was a good show.I talked to phil earley friday and he was putting water on track. The paved track with dirt on top has its problems, that can be fixed. We eat dust ,but it was worth it to see a good race and have a track that appreciate the fans. The race was cut short only because of fines the county can and will impose on the owners, thats why they named it FRIENDSHIP SPEEDWAY.you have to respect the surrounding property owners. if you did not like to show please call BR549 AND ASK FOR BOBBY............................................. ..

That about the fines is straight up BULL****. The race track is not in City limits. There was times when it was first dirt then asphalt racing went well after midnight to get what the fans paid for. And that was all the racing action in.

i chose friendship over 311 last night for the first time i have been there. they been a good da** good show on last night. except i dont understand why the laps was cut back. i was there to see the supers and if i payed that much money i deserved to get the whole show not just half. congrats to all the drivers that was there and it was good seeing gary mabe putting on a show like he did. it was dusty, but overall the track was in an awesum job just need to get started early so they can get in all the laps unstead of half.

Some of my crew was over there, they told me
Gary was running good I was tickled to hear it.
I'd like to see him come to RTR. I think some
need to realize this was the 1st time the supers
has been on the track since what 02 or so, I'm
sure most guys setups were off a little, and with
the dry slick instead of the ussuall tacky....
maybe they need to start earlier or drop the crates
when they have a super show,, anyhow I'm sure
some things will change for the next time.. I plan on
going for sure......

First time ever going to friendship. I normally go to 311, but had to be in mt airy saturday anyway, so I came down to the show. Yea it was dusty, but I thought the racing was great. It ain't a race if you leave the track clean.

had a dang good time hanging out with gary east and the 9 crew. the racing was good and there were a few problems but seems like the folks down there care and will make changes for the fans and racers.
it was good to see mr.joe that use to work at 311 and greg the flagman.
i thought the night went very well and like i said there were problems but sounds like they already have solutions and are putting them in place.
i never saw ***** johns get on here and as much apologize or even update as to the remedies he had to 311.
but then again everything is perfect in king boobys court!............for him!
but on a better note i think friendship is going to be a great place for fans and drivers.
good luck mr. hall on a great year of racing and look forward to seeing more of it !!!!!:pepper::icon_rock::HighFive:
