The racing has been kinda boring. They should show the crates too!

And the Pennsylvania posse bets the WoO. Yeh, Lance Dewease.

I know that this weekend is the Coke - Cola 600 but the grandstand tonight for the WoO race was full. I'm not against sprint cars, but I wish they would have had the Super Late Models there for a big show so more people would see the "other dirt cars". Most everyone knows about sprints, but when it comes to late models theres some confusion. It depends on what part of the country you are from. Late models in some areas are the hobby class or other areas they are street modifieds, some areas junk yard, it just depends on where you are from. As we all know Super Lates are fast and smooth and I think they just need a little introduction to the racing world. I'm not saying that tonights show didn't help dirt track racing and lets hope it did, but I wish it was the Supers that where there. If Fastrack and the crates where there tonight, thats good, because "I" feel that in 8 to 10 years that will be the be super late class, if not, the Super Lates, as we know them now will not be. The price of motors, tires, fuel, gas, is going to dictate the racing, we all are going to see a change in racing and how much is spent in racing and the purses that are being paid for the races won. This economy thing today has effected racing some this year and will continue to influence racing this year. But in my opinion the true impact of whats happening now will not be felt, in its full strength, until next year. Some sponsor that are under contracts this year will not renew there sponsorship or they will send less until things workout and get settled. With credit cards coming in and for closers, a national presidential election, the stock market going up and down, the price of living,I don't feel that all the cards have been dealt yet.

For what it's worth, I thought the feature was great. I'm looking forward to the Showdown at Lowes later this year.

I got home late tried my best to watch the replay. The pre race and quaiflying was so long and boring I fell asleep before the heats woke up in the middle of the last one. Tried to stay awake again and fell asleep for good durning the dash. Guess that shows what I think about the sprints. But hey it did make for some good sleep :Elvis_NBS:

There's nothing more boring about Sprint qualifying than any other type of qualifying. Glad you got some rest, your mouth will need it tonight. :evilB:

Watching a car go around a dirt track and never get sideways in a turn is boring. Qualifying is less excitement than heats, BUT A LATE MODEL IS STILL BETTER AT QUALIFYING THAN A SPRINT. So yes the sprints are more boring period at everything they do. They and their fans need some serious :help: They make me wanna :08Choke: or :behead: who ever came up with the idea of lets not put a starter on these things.

:YesNo: Oh I see.... so it's the slide that makes things more exciting for you? If that's what you're after, I bet you love drifting.

Once again, we can agree to disagree...

Drifting an exabition. Its not a sport or race so it does nothing for me. Kinda like the sprints "not a real race" I say just :animal46: and it would be more exciting :icon_laughing4: :icon_laughing4: :icon_laughing4:

Actually this will sum up how I feel about the sprints. All the regular readers will know what I mean. LOL I was actually hoping it would be a true live show (which it wasnt) and they would have some fill time and would show the crates race some.

They're kids and it's what they know. There's no revelation here. I'm sure if you grew up around sprints it would be a different story. Being that I am a fairly new race fan with few external peer influences, I think I may be just a bit more open-minded about sprints.

Honestly, I've never seen a good sprint race on Carolina red clay. But on the dark stuff out in Iowa, HOLY HELL COWBOY!

Well I hope that makes you feel better.

It's obvious I'm in the minority here on being able to appreciate the sprints and what it takes to race one. They're bad fast, they're incredibly small based on the amount of power they're sitting on, and driving one has to be incredibly difficult due to those and other factors. It's going to be a lot different from seeing a big and wide "stock" car running at slower speeds. In any case, I enjoy the heck out of both.

Never hurts to have some outside confirmation that I'm always right. Nice when others agree with me.

So you need confirmation about your own opinions? There's no "right" or "wrong" here but I guess that's way over your head.... which means it's WAY up there.

This is what happens when I can't make a race on Saturday. Instead of doing important things, I provide entertainment for JH.

Well, one thing we can all agree on... there's going to be some good racing all over tonight. Y'all have fun!

rb they are one fast race car though. 12.547 sec 114.768 mph around 4/10 track.
Sprints are like any other form of racing. It's where you are in the country whether or not your a sprint fan. #1, In East Carolina there is no 410 sprints and nobody down there know that much about them. Up here we have tracks that run nothing but 410 and 350 sprint every week to a whole lot more attendance then the Late Models do down there. And going sideways is not going forward, course I guess the wheel base wouldn't have anything to do with that would it. It's like Bar-b-que, people in the Carolinas like theres one way and people in Kansas like it another way and you will never convince other one which is best.

People here see (mostly) all late models, so that's what they like. In Central PA they race sprints and people love them (JH, you'd get thrown off Beer Hill at the Grove if you said anything like that). I like both - which makes sense since I've lived half my life in PA and half in VA. I'm going to VMS tonight and gonna love it - and I know you'll love Clary's tonight.

I like them both alongs has the sprints don;t drive like they are scared. which most WoO don't. Thing about latemodels is no matter where they are the pedal down.
