Okay honest advice is hard to find, so I'm going to be as honest as i know how. There are MANY variables that play into this like track size, car weight, tire sizes (diameter),transmission, power curve of the cam being used etc....with that being said not knowing anything about what you are going to run in the T&L class (I think your running this class) consider the things that i have listed and think about your camshaft, know the power curve, your low rpm and high rpm or where it makes it's power. Ideally you would like to see yourself (with a reliable tach) just come off the corner at the lower but not below advertised rpm and then when you come full speed ahead into the next turn you should be somewhere around your high advertised rpm. if you can get EVERYTHING in tune and stay within these numbers and get your POWER to the track people will have a hard time beating you. I have had some experience at countyline with a winning team and we ran a ford 9 inch with either a 6.00 or a 6.30 and had great success, but our other specifics are secret (another key haha) with no guarantee this should get you in the ballpark, another good person to ask would be an engine builder that builds engines for winning cars at that track, they can also get you in the ballpark. please let me know if i can help any further......have a good one

Thanks, I don't race, so I'll pass it along. Thanks for replying.

wow (good advise must be hard to come by) i have been running CLR for a long time. and if you are running by the rule book i dont see a 630 gear being close to ideal for clr. but like he said lots of variables there and have tried most every combintion from 650 to 719 and won with each combo. so just for sec. opions worth going to clr with less than 650, i feel will be shooting yourself in foot.

I have always ran from a 690-717 & it works great BUT I don't have a big motor either!
