Noel Tucker Wins Opening Night at Friendship Motor Speedway
In front of a standing room only crowd, Noel Tucker sat on pole with quick time. Local hotshoe, Mitchell Coble, was on the outside pole. With 22 Direct Automotive Crate Late Models on the starting grid, Tucker took the lead on the opening lap and led all 35 laps to win the first “Direct
Automotive Crate Late Model Feature” since going back to dirt. Tucker committed after the race that he wanted to thank all his sponsors, J & J Race Cars, Aunt Bea’s Barbeque, South Main Service Center, Steven’s Maintenance, Granite City Auto, his crew, and all his devoted fans for coming out to support him on opening night. Finishing out the top ten are Chris Cheek in 2nd, Tony Hicks 3rd, Jason Wall 4th, Will Shuler 5th, Tommy Zachary 6th, Chase McCormick 7th, Frank Hodges 8th, Lester Blankenship 9th, and Mitchell Coble rounded out the top ten. Finishing 11th thru 20th were Todd Blevins 11th, Steve Cook 12th, Ryan Atkins 13th, Phil Arrington 14th, David Childress, Jr. 15th, John Eller 16th, Joel Bray 17th, Brandon Hall 18th, David Collins, Sr. 19th, and Kenny Peoples was 20th.
In the Super Street division, Daniel Moss 1st, Jeff Parsons 2nd, George Anex Jr. 3rd, John Stamper 4th, Travis Childes 5th, Tony Lowe 6th, Lee Bates 7th, Mike Sidden 8th, Andy Mathis 9th, Keith Clonch 10th, and Jimmy Grimes 11th.
The 4 Cylinder finish was Robbie Brown 1st, Matthew Warden 2nd, Billy Robbins 3rd, Sandy Martin 4th, Scott Adams 5th, Keith Hart 6th, Maggie Stokes 7th, Steve Minton 8th, and Tom Zachary 9th. Austin Hudspeth and Curtis Evans were DNS.
In the U Car Division, there was Matthew Barker 1st, Jackie Stone 2nd, Tyler Sidden 3rd, C J Lyons 4th, Brad Bates 5th, Chad Donahue 6th, Dean Anderson 7th, John Tripplett 8th, Josh Clonch 9th, with Josh Clonch DNS.
Promoter Phil Hall would like to thank all the drivers, crews, and fans for a huge opening night. Even though we had a few minor problems in the pit area, such as dust on the pit road and a car restarting the race got hung up on the back pit road, everything pretty much went smooth. Racing returns next Saturday night with all Four Divisions, including the 4 Cylinders running for $200.00 extra.
