LINCOLNTON, N.C. (April 18) - The Carolina Clash Super Late Models is set to invade Travelers Rest Speedway next Saturday Night April 26th.

The race will be the second of the season for the nine year old series with the winner of the 40 lap main event taking home $4,000. Last year Dennis 'Rambo' Franklin held off a determined Ricky Weeks to post the victory at the 3/8 mile oval.

"Travelers Rest is a cool track," said Carolina Clash President Larry Lee. "Last year we had a record crowd, a heck of a race and a fantastic time at TR and I am sure this year will be more of the same. Jody Palmer and his staff do a fantastic job of promoting the track which quickly made an impression on the drivers that attended last years event.

'Rambo' Franklin will lead the Carolina Clash contingent into town. He took home the opening round victory last Saturday night at Fayetteville Motor Speedway.

The pit gates will open at 4:30 PM with the grandstands opening at 5:00 PM. Drivers meeting will start at 6:30 with racing at 7:00 PM. For more information visit www.trspeedway.net or www.carolinaclash.com

Carolina Clash Announces Schedule Updates

After three consecutive rain outs the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series was finally able to get the 2008 season started last Saturday night at Fayetteville Motor Speedway, where Dennis 'Rambo' Franklin made a an early pass of Ricky Weeks to claim the $4,000 win.

Gordon Park Speedway was scheduled to host an event on March 29th but Mother Nature had other plans. The event has been rescheduled for Friday night May 9th. This will be a 40 lap $4,000 to win main event. The series will then head about 65 miles south for their first ever visit to Screven Motor Speedway on Saturday night May 10th. The Screven event will be a 50 lap $5,000 to win feature.

"With the cost of fuel what it is right now we thought the best way to reschedule the event at Gordon Park was to back it up to the Screven race," said Carolina Clash Series President Larry Lee. 'We try to stay off as many Friday night shows as we can but with the hand that Mother Nature has dealt us in 2008 we did not have a whole lot of choice. We want to thank Lennie Hobbs and his staff at Gordon Park Speedway for being patient with us while we attempted to find the best date for their facility."

In other schedule news Friendship Speedway in Elkin, NC has been added to the 'Championship Series' schedule with a $5,000 to win event on September 6th. New Promoter Phil Hall and crew are working to put dirt down on the facility that was paved a couple of years ago. "We are very excited about getting back to Friendship Speedway," said Lee. "Friendship was always a staple on our calendar and if the racing up there is anything like it has been in the past our racers and fans are in for a real treat."
