Unfortunately I did not want to give this news, but....
We have not been able to work out things to get Wayne County open this year. I will not go into details about it, it just wasn't meant to happen. I just got off the phone with Eddie Jr., and told him first. I hope the best for him and the racetrack. I feel bad for you guys that want it to open as bad as I did. We can only see what the future holds, and again I am sorry this didn't work out the way it should have.
Now on to S.M.A.R.T series business.
Take Care and thanks for everyones support

Me either! When I posted back in March that they needed to make a move one way or the other, I pretty much figured it out!

I hate to hear the news too, but like some of the rest, I thought it was too good to be true. It will probably not happen as long as the current owners have it. And, I'm sure they are not going to sell. Maybe that's food for thought in that general area to build one, because they surely would come if you build it !
Based on what little I've heard about the current owner, I don't know why anyone would enter into a lease agreement with him.
Here's a question... Does anyone know when the last "new" track was built within the states of NC, SC, and VA? I'm talking built completely from scratch...

Rolling Thunder was just built last year. Before that it had been a while. Still too many existing tracks for the amount of cars and fan base.
thanks james. that serves as a great reminder for me to get out to RTR a few times this year!

OK you can ask anyone, even the owner of this site, I'm usually the quiet one, but I have had enough of the constant bashing of Eddie Radford.Take it for what it is, the track is not going to open, the deal fell through with the ones that were trying to lease it and this is were you need to get your facts straight... IT WAS NOT EDDIE'S FAULT....I for one am fed up with the bashing and crap talking about the man that owns the track; he is not or has never been a bad person. I will tell him just like I'm telling you right now, he has made some mistakes with the track that could have been rectified but it didn't happen. Does that make him a target for crap talking? Yes it does, but he is a buisness man, a family man and a good ol regular guy JMO. He has other things to worry about than if people might see some racing at WCS. He has a family to think of first. I for one don't blame him at all! I would love to see it open too because I went to my first dirt race at WCS and I fell in love with the sport there. Don't think I am picking on you, but you just struck a nerve, along with all the other posts on this subject. I'm done with my rant for now but God, just drop it. The track is not going to open, at least not this year. The man made a business decision and we, as race fans, like it or not should respect it. If you think that leasing and running or promoting a track is easy, you should ask Marcia Reed about that. It's not easy, especially if the deal on the other side falls through due to no fault of your own. It happens. There are other places to race at in the area. No, there isn't another like WCS, but as long as some dirt is gettin' slung, who cares?
