No problem, we were gonna wait until it was completely covered in dirt but I , like all ya'll, got the itch and had to go check it out. When you actually walk down to it, it's wider than it looks, but it will provide tight racing, it's gonna be a driver's track for sure. We'll try and get some more pics up in the coming weeks when it's completely covered. And Hall told me yesterday it's official, the track is Fastrack and ASA Santioned, so if you run in the crates, there's actually 3 championships you can run for, plus the ASA deal provides great insurance. One other plus for the parents who race, kids will be allowed in the pits as long as they're supervised.

Thanks for answering another one of our questions Q. We were just talking last night about how we'd like to take the kids down there with us. I can put Ashlyn to cleaning the helmets this year! :18lol:

He also said it would'nt be adult price to get kids in the pits.

Did they change the banking and the track size when they paved it? The track looks bigger and has less banking.

the changed the banking to 12 degrees as far as the track i think it's pretty much the same

Are there any plans to move the concrete barriers on the inside of the track? Are the pits going to stay in the infield? I could care less about them throwing dirt on top of the asphalt unless they improve some of the bigger problems at friendship. The present configuration is way too narrow to race on and with the super rigs the slm have makes the track invisible from turn 2 all the way up the backstretch to turn 3 from the front stretch grandstands. Any plans to address this?

The barriers have done been moved in 12 ft in the center and the pits will stay the same, if you go and see the track now you will see they are alot of room to pass and side by side RACING ACTION:TheMan:

Well if you put all those big rigs in the infield you should charge 1/2 price cause thats all you see. Glad to hear you made it wider though will help a lot.

I have to agree this seems to be a problem that needs to be looked into.

Don't quote me on this but there is talk of putting a pit road on top of the backstretch to eliminate the larger haulers from the infield. And that would suit me fine, I'd rather park up there anyways.

Visibility is not nearly as bad now as it used to be. Since the front pit parking has been moved closer to the wall after it was paved, you can see much better. As long as only smaller trailers park on the back stretch and in the corners, it should be fine. However, pits on top of the hill would sure be a great idea. Only a few more weeks till the rebirth of a great little track.

The pics of the racing surface look good. Never seen it that wide. Should make for more side by side racing. Big rigs on the hill would be the ticket if they can pull that off. Looking forward to going back there myself. Phil was always one of my favorite drivers so I think it's time to show him some support as a promoter. The Myers didn't have a clue. Looks like they are taking the right steps to make it as fan friendly as possible.

Now what needs to be done is for Phil Hall and Fred Brown to get together and plan a Friday/Saturday Carolina Clash weekend. Best scenario for the Clash drivers is for Wythe to run an event on Friday night and Friendship on Saturday night (since Friendship would be on the way home for the majority of the series drivers). Both are such long drives for many of the folks that follow the Clash that a doubleheader is needed to justify the long trip. Food for thought..........
