The Carolina Clash Series is set to finally open their 2008 racing season this Saturday night March 29th at Gordon Park Speedway after Mother Nature took care of the opening two rounds originally scheduled.

The 'Clash' series has visited Gordon Park three times over the years with Ed Basey taking home each win. Basey from nearby Evans, GA has had a $500 bounty placed on him by track promoter Lenny Hobbs. Basey has to be running at the finish for the bounty to be collected. Ricky Weeks will lead the 'Carolina Bad Boys' to town looking for his fifth consecutive series championship but the 'Georgia Bandits', led by Basey will be very strong.

"We are looking forward to getting the season started," said Carolina Clash Series President Larry Lee. "Lennie Hobbs and his staff do a great job of promoting Gordon Park Speedway and it should be a heck of a race."

The historic gates of Gordon Park Speedway were first opened in 1947. The speedway has since evolved into a 130 foot wide 4/10 mile speedbowl. Track promoter Lennie Hobbs has done extensive work updating and improving the racing facility. Gordon Park is located at 3157 Gordon Highway (Hwy 78) just west of Augusta, Georgia. Speedway is only 10 miles from a variety of lodging and dining to suit any race fan.

This weekend marks the opening night of competition for Gordon Park’s 2008 season. Clash Late Models will qualify and race this Saturday, March 29th. Gates open at 5:00PM with racing beginning promptly at 8:00 PM. Saturday night will feature the Carolina Clash series and main events for, Super Street, Stock V8 and Mini Stock divisions.

On Friday night Gordon Park Speedway will play host to a $3,000 to win Crate Late Model race. Their will also be heats for Mini Stock, Super Street and Stock V8, as well as an open practice for any Carolina Clash cars that choose to attend.
