LINCOLNTON, NC – The Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series will kick off its ninth season on Saturday night March 8 at Carolina Speedway, with a $5,000 to win 50 lap affair.

This event has historically drawn large car counts and this weeks event looks to be no different. One of the drivers on hand will be Rutherfordton, NC’s Ricky Weeks. Weeks the four-time and defending series champion will be on of the favorites to score the victory. Weeks also led the series last season with seven victories including the season opening win at Carolina Speedway.

“We are very much looking forward to getting this season under way,” said Carolina Clash President and founder Larry Lee. “Carolina always proves to have plenty of action and i'm sure this season will be no different. With our new format and points system this season promises to be the most exciting in the history of our series. We are expecting a stout field of cars; we will have some new faces to go along with the drivers and teams that have made our series so successful over the last eight years.”

A record eight drivers have signed up to compete for the PBM Performance Parts Rookie of the Year Award in 2008. They will join a host of drivers that will be looking to unlock Ricky Weeks strangle hold on the Carolina Clash Cup.
Friday night March 7th will be an open practice at Carolina Speedway for teams to dial in the racers. Gates will open at 5:00 with practice from 7:00-10:00 PM. The grandstands will be free for anyone that would like to attend.
Saturday night March 8th the pit gates will open at 4:00 with racing at 7:15. Four other exciting divisions will also be on hand. The GM Performance Late Models will compete for a $1,000 prize in their main event. Pure Stock Four, Street Stock and Renegades will also be in action.

The host hotel for the weekend is the Holiday Inn Express. Call 704-884-3301 and ask for the Carolina Clash rate. For more information visit www.carolinaclash.com or www.carolinaspeedway.net
