I think what part of the problem was....was they re wet the track after the first practice. I may be wrong. As far as the car counts go, I didnt get a total count but I think there was at least 60-75 cars there. I know there were about 15 OWM and about the same in SS. I think there was about 12 to 15 SLM and LLM. I didnt count the u-cars and young guns, but there were alot of u-cars.
Great to see so many cars out there. I'm looking forward to the first race. CaliforniaKid- I walked away with close to 1,000 images. I'm weeding them out now. I'm just about ready to start uploading the pit pictures.
FMS is going to be rockin' in 2008!

We left after the first round of practice and went to HammerDown for the race. FMS was a little rough looking. The last thing it needed was water. They must have had a bunch of cars pull in after we left because there was nowhere near 80-90 when we were there. I can't wait to see Rhetts pics.

Hey RC, they still had a few showup when practice was over. I might be wrong on the number but I saw 2 or 3 pull in when I was at the car to leave. And yes there was a few show up after you guys left.

They will learn the track and its surface and what they can and can not do to it, so they can get it race ready and keep it that way all night. Sometimes its new clay and sometimes its learning what you have and how to work with it. New clay is not always the correct answer. One thing that has to be remembered is how low the water table is down there. That means there is hardly any water to pull from down in the earth and a lot of water/moisture has to be WORKED into the track and that can't be done all in one day. Moisture has to be put in the early morning and late in the afternoon after the sun goes down so it don't dry so quick and gets down in the track and not run off. This is a very time consuming operation and expensive deal and takes 3 or 4 days of prep and you have to do it twice a day to get the moisture down in the track or at least thats what it takes the majority of the tracks that I have been to.
Being a track owner is work and a damn mess of it. It don't start and stop on Saturday................
Most tracks that I have run when the last race is done, say on Saturday night , the owner is putting 2 to 3 loads of water on the track before he turns the lights out.
FACT NOT OPINION
