View Full Version : Man dies at Daytona while driving Petty Experience car
A 60-year-old man crashed and died while driving at the Daytona Beach International Speedway as part of the Richard Petty Driving Experience, authorities and family members said today.
Robert Boswell was taking part in the Richard Petty Driving Experience, a program where fans pay to get behind the wheel of a NASCAR car, said his son Greg Boswell. The crash occurred about 5 p.m. Sunday, police said. Bowden was taken to Halifax Health Medical Center where he was declared dead at 7pm/et.
“He was driving at the time he died,” Greg Boswell said. Police released Boswell’s name, but they are not commenting on the investigation because it is still active, said Daytona Beach police spokesman Jimmie Flynt.

there may be more too this. HE COULD HAVE PASSED OUT OR HAD A HEART ATTACK or ect. or he may have just lost it
Since it is still under investigation maybe we will be able to find more information later..... to figure out what was behind it. Should be interesting.

I think if you get a high enough package and take required classes there is not an instructor but I could be wrong......

:stopcop: We need to immediately contact M.A.D.D and the NC Governor's Highway Safety Program, and inform them that they shouldn't be using these wrecked vehicles in anti-drinking and driving seminars at high schools because someone drove them at one point. Guess I can't hang around the junkyards no more taking pictures cause someone drove those cars in the past too.

It is pretty rare that people die in race cars now because safety has come such a long way and i would think that the safety in that car is a lot better then most of the people racing for the reason that it is fan friendly and all.....and btw the cars they use around here that are wrecked for the drunk driving stuff people didnt die in...........

A 60-year-old Apopka man died after he crashed while driving a Richard Petty Driving Experience car at the Daytona Beach International Speedway, authorities and family members said today. An autopsy report released this afternoon showed he died of a heart attack and not from the crash

You can pay extra for a tandum ride along first before actually racing. You follow and instructor on the track when you drive by yourself. My dad raced this in Richmond last October.
