Potomac Speedway in Maryland has set 4 dates for Crate Late Models on their 2008 schedule, This will be the first time Crate Late Models have been able to race in Maryland. Visit their website for dates and track information.

My first experience with crates was down at Carolina Speedway. I was not impressed. However, after seeing them three nights in a row at Golden Isles Speedway, I'm convinced that what I saw at Carolina is not indicative of what can be expected out of this class. The reason the crates weren't much to watch at Carolina was because their track conditions sucked. The super late model race on that same track was every bit as boring as the crate race.

What I saw at Golden Isles, is that crates can be entertaining just like any other class of car on a racy track. They were three wide through the corners, passing and grinding all over the track. I saw Davenport come from the rear of the field in his heat race to win the thing.

We have one member that is truly against crates but probably in all actuality hasn't seen a true crate series race or crate sanctioned series rules race . A true GM crate 604 can put on a good show, on a good track, with a GOOD DRIVER. Limit Late Models, late models, semi late models,and ect. does not constitute crates just because they are not running an unlimited engine specs. A GM crate 604 that has been sealed by GM, and not one that has not been sealed and put together by Joe Henry Engines.
