S.M.A.R.T Series Press Release
January 4, 2008

The Steelblock Mid-Atlantic Racing Tour is excited to announce the official signing of Winchester Speedway and Elkins Motor Speedway to the S.M.A.R.T family of tracks for 2008. The addition of these tracks will provide the series a solid foundation to grow from.

The Director of Operations, Chris Hammer was excited when asked what this means to the series. “This whole series has been overwhelming with the support of the competitors and tracks. By adding Elkins and Winchester as two of our base tracks in 2008 basically put the S.M.A.R.T series on the map in a big way,” Hammer said.
Elkins will be run this year by long time racing supporter Wayne Feathers. “Wayne has a vision that is first class, and there is no doubt that racing at Elkins will be exciting and progress into the future in a big way, and we are excited to be a part of that vision” added Hammer. Plans for Elkins are to add clay to the racing surface and build the facility throughout the year. “The weather as been hard on us to get anything done, we’ve had either rain or snow every three days”, stated Mr. Feathers. As soon as the weather cooperates the clay will be put down and the surface worked in. Look for fast times this year!

Winchester is a big presence on the 2008 S.M.A.R.T schedule also. The cooperation and partnership with Calvin Davis and S.M.A.R.T is strong and looks to build even more through out the year and beyond. Winchester has two dates scheduled and the plans are to hold the Xtreme 100 at Winchester in October. “We held the Xtreme100 last year at Eastside Speedway and had a fantastic turnout” stated Mr. Hammer. “With cars from over 6 states represented and some of the best racing of the season, 2008 only looks to be bigger and better than ever.” Winchester has put together an amazing schedule for 2008 as well. August 1 look for the Lucas Oil Late Model series for the first time at Winchester Speedway. There will be 3 Hagerstown/ Winchester shootouts scheduled as well as the Virginia Nationals and the Winchester 200.

S.M.A.R.T would also like to welcome a huge addition to our management team in Al Martin III. Al Martin will be our Public Relations and Marketing Director for 2008. Mr. Martin brings a vast supply of knowledge and experience to this position. Some of you may know Al as a contributing journalist for Dirt Late Model magazine. Al has had many articles published throughout the years. With Mr. Martin’s reputation, experience and excitement to work with S.M.A.R.T, we feel this is a huge benefit to the tracks, the series and our competitors.

Rest assured that S.M.A.R.T is working overtime to finish securing tracks and dates for the 2008 schedule. For all of the latest updated information go to www.smartracingseries.com (http://www.smartracingseries.com/) and send us your e-mail address. Join us to sling some dirt in 2008!
