im not tryin to piss nobody off this is just what i think, by restricting your engines the way you have with no dry sump and no alluminum heads you have killed your field. Alot of us have steel block alluminum 23 degree heads with a dry sump it cost the same to build a good steel head motor as does alluminum headed motor but you can repair the alluminum head alot easier?. why no dry sump? dry sump has NO performance advantage. It makes the car heavier so in a way it hurts the handling dry sumps are ONLY a better oil system so i can deburr my block because it helps oiling but having a totally better oiling system is illegal . I know five late models right now that have steel headed motors that were gonna come but now they cant because they have a dry sump and 2500 lbs is UNSAFE for a late model!! two reasons 1- momentum, when a 2500 lb car trys to stop from crashing it takes alot longer to slow down and when it does hit its gonna bend frame rails BAD!2- that means every racer out there is gonna have 200 LBS!! bolted on there car and guess what its gonna fly off and hit a fan or right through my radiator or worse my cockpit lets think about this whats really safer wanna have good races and good car count open up your rules and think about what is really safer thanks tell me what you guys think

only thing dry sump motors add about 40 hp but at rolling thunder they all seem to run together whether dry sump or not the lesser cars get weight break but i like the way they are trying to work out things for us racers the main thing i saw at the track is a need for better guardrails if we get several latre models out there running and somethin happens a car is gonna get really torn up with only i rail going around the track andy if you had gotten in the rail on the backstrech it might have gotten more than your spoiler who knos but i think we can all come to set of rules that will allow a good feild of cars come race like mabe open tire rule up on certian comppounds weight break for those without drysumps

Keep the rules the same as FMS and Dublins Limited Late Models.
This is where your cars are gonna come from (for the most part).
Sounds to me that some want to add a Super Late Model Class at Hammer Down.:click:

no, nobody is saying a super class just amend the rules to allow more cars. i have a steel headed engine, but it too is a dry sump engine so i cant run there (or fay or dublin unless i run super). now lets all think about this, the track is SMALL thats where all the motor in the world isnt gonna help you, its called handling. when you run the gear you have to at that track that automaticlly tells ya that there is no straightaway and therefore big engines have absolutly not advantage. now the weight issue is one, its hard to get a late model down below 2200 (unless you have alot of money)some places i have offset this with more spoiler. here is what i think the engine rules should be:weight should start at 2200 with a 12 inch spoiler, your baseline being a 602 or 604 create motor, add 100lbs (2300) for steel headed engines and drop the spoiler to 8 inches, for aluminum heads add another 100lbs (2400) with 50lbs of that in front of the midplate and they get a 8 inch spoiler....
now i've been around long enough that i know youre NEVER gonna please everybody but from reading the rules from alot of other tracks this would make it where cars from other tracks BESIDES fayetteville and dublin could come and race
