Hammer Down Speedway wants to have a good points fund at the end of the year but needs some feedback as to other tracks if you have input please help!
If you can, confirm payouts for champions or other places that a track points fund paid out that would be helpful!
Thanks!

usually the points fund is somewhere in line with what a reg night payout is. EX 1st-$500 to win would be $500 for champion and so on down the line. anything more is even better and a plus lol

I race the Ucars there and they charge $20 for the pits and $35 toward the purse in addition to the $250 Guaranteed that is provided by the sponsors!
I got 3rd in the last event there.... and bagged $100! That's outstanding for my class. I also know the owner is going to start a points fund for the end of the year and crown a new Champion. Don't forget too, he is paying top qualifier $100 and anyone who beats the Track record $100 when the season starts on Mar. 29th

At FMS, second place for the season paid the same as second place for a race.

well that isnt the case for every class b/c i finished 3rd in points at FMS in SS and was awarded $100...idk why but i think that is pitiful when a reg nights race pays $225 for that position

not up this way, point fund monies are much higher then a regular nights pay by 4 to 6 thousand dollars for 1st place and more then 5 to 8 hundred dollars for 10th place.

Walt, some of the tracks list their points funds on their website, though most do not, but you might get an idea if you find a couple that do. Just a thought.

I think doing it like Racerchaser said promotes more loyalty from week to week at a track because you get your money from a good points finish, which means you need to try to be there as many weeks as you can. Its amazing at a lot of tracks up north that the car counts vary very little week to week and usually its the same people every week. Down here I've seen 15 or 16 cars in a particular class one week, then only 6 or 7 the next.
I guess its just a different philosophy - large race payouts and small points fund or lower race payouts and higher points fund.

That is true Kevin............. In the North the weekly payouts tend to be low with high car counts............. Orange County Speedway in Middletown NY averaged over 35 or so Big Block Modifieds every week........ They were sending home anywhere between with 10 - 20 a week with nothing but hot laps, heat race and consi.............. To win I thin was $1500.00 maybe.
Clarys's paid $3000.00 to win weekly a couple of years ago and I dont think we ever had a field of more than 20 for a weekly show.........
Where are the tracks in the south going wrong?

Not sticking to the rules that are in the book and changing the rules to help your buddies, point in fact, just this past season the Earl Pearson jr. tire deal. People look at that and say, if they can do that to him, I ain't got chance. Also the Ricky Elliott deal 2 years ago when we won the race and then they said in post race we where illegal because we didn't have 50 lbs in front of the motor plate, but we told them and showed them that before the heat races and told us it was ok this one time but if we where to come back we would have to have the 50 lbs in front. Then bang we where DQed. Also some of the rules are different from track to track and the series rules that we run and to run at some tracks you have got to just have one car for that track because of the rules. Up here Charlie cars can run almost any track from Delaware to Canada under the same rules.

Where are the tracks in the south going wrong? If I'm not mistaken OCFS and Bridgeport both paid $2500 to win weekly features for the past couple years,Never could understand why there wasn't more support though for the Clary's deal though...Righteous bucks for a feature win....

Anybody on the local scene, running the same track every week is just fooling hisself to compete for points or a points fund. You do not get ahead money wise in the end and nobody in the whole wide world cares. The only way to get ahead any at all is to win races consistantly. JMO
It's like a greyhound chasing a rabbit he cannot catch.
It ain't the points that pay off it's the winners' circle.
