New Sponsor on board after 1/5 event says that they want to pay Late Models $1000 to win GUANTEED plus the Track says $500 to win with a min. of 15 cars and atleast 5 cars to equal a class! This could be a potential payout to the winner of $1500 bucks... Let's get them out here for a real GOOD show!!! The ones that showed on 1/5 did an outstanding job of adjusting their driving style and putting it on for us fans!

PLUS SPONSORS says that they want to pay the other classes a BONUS of $250 to win GUANTEED plus the Track says $500 to win with a min. of 15 cars and atleast 5 cars to equal a class! That means the winner could take home $750 bucks potentially. THAT SHOULD GET THEM OFF THE COUCH..... LOL

All in all, I thought it was an outstanding showing even though there wasn't a huge turn out this time for some of the classes! But I think the money is gonna get them coming for this next one!!

That race was pretty good yesterday. I thought the LM's handled the little track pretty well

I was very impressed with the way they took to the track!! I heard on some message boards "the track was too small etc." well you know what, they had to adjust thier driving style a bit but I seen with my own 2 eyes that they had plenty of room to pass 2 wide even in the turns!

Driving on various types of tracks make you a much better racer too!! I talked to the owner about some of my concerns from the stands point of view and he's going to work on them for ex. Tow truck driver is not a regular user of the hook, coming out of the turns there needs to be more defensive measures for the fans for that just in case accident! and of course the food thing at the track with the tickets and all... they we not prepared for all these message board users showing thier support!! Michael commented that he was very thankful for everyones help with the turn out!! So he wants to do it again if we want in a couple of weeks, what's everyone's idea? I'll post it on the website...

If this track had some decent banking, it would be another Farmer City Raceway. Did either of the two late models get near the 12.340's? Farmer City Raceway ( Farmer City, IL) is a 1/4 mile high banked (Track Record is 12:348, Ryan Dauber) The WoO visit there each year. I've not seen Hammerdown Speedway in person, but from the pics on Hammerdown's site, this looks like a tremendously wide track, not common is this area. Someone said you could get 2 wide racing.......That easily looks like a 4 wide track to me, given the more experienced drivers race it and use the WHOLE track...I love these kind of tracks, you just don't see them in NC. I personally rather see a 3 wide real race on a 1/4 wide track than a train race on a big 4/10 track. If you ever watch WoO races on Speed, most of the tracks are small and wide and produce the best racing.

It totally suprised me, i think if the track wouldve gotten rolled in it wouldve been as good as it was for the race way earlier... but hey how bout andy he did really good for only his 5th or 6th time in a late model

andy shocked the mess out of me. i know there wasnt a whole lot of cars out there to provide competition. not that im saying anything bad about any of the drivers that raced. the 3 late models that made the show never pulled away from each other. they stayed tight the whole time. andy drove the track like a veteran. i was really surprised at how quick he caught on to that track. congrats andy!!!

how bout zack cox though. he was the one that figured out that track first in practice. he was really getting around the track. zach and charles hanson really made for a good show swapping position back and forth. i wish someone had a video camera for that race so the ones that didnt make it out there could have seen how good the racing really was. i cant wait to go back. i wish they would make a mini stock class out there so i could make some laps.

I Cant Wait To Drive The Track Just Wish I Wouldnt Have Found A Prob With Mine So I Could Have Been There But If They Race In 2 Weeks Ill Be There Ready To Race The Track To Me Was Awesome Just Enough Banking To Get Them Thru The Corners Good And The Late Model Drivers That Were There Did A Great Job Driving The Trackthe Only Things I Saw That Needed Much Improvement Were Food Tickets Not Needed If There Was A Larger Crowd They Wouldnt Have Been Able To Keep Up And Keeping The Schedule Of Events Rolling But The Main Thing I Saw Was The Outside Guardrail Needs More Railing To Go Around The Track Mabe 2 More Rows Of It Specially If Lates And Full Size Cars Are Running This Will Be Greatly Needed To Keep Fans And Drivers Safe Other Than That They Have Pleny Of Parking For The Race Cars And The Lighting Looked Real Good So Lets Go Racing

I like how you compare it to Farmer City. I have always wanted to go watch a race there. When I was on my way home from Iowa a couple of weeks ago, I went by there. I couldnt make it yesterday but if they race in a couple of weeks I will be there. Looking at some of Red Clays pics, it does look like it could be 4 wide. You never know this could be something big.

Hey racing007s. I took about 300 pics (I'll probably narrow that down to 200 or so). I should have them up tommorrow or the next day. Could you list the winners (or PM me or e-mail me at khf71*comcast.net so I can put the winner names with the winner pics, which I am planning to do in a little while, along with posting some other selected pics (before I post the motherload in a day or two).

PS: I stayed at a motel overnight and made a stop on the way home so I haven't been home very long. Nice meeting you last night and dispite the long drive, I must say that I really enjoyed myself. For the most part, everything was much better than I had anticipated. :thankyou2:

i know you have a little further to drive than us, but it is definitely worth it. besides as fast as you drive, it should only take you about 45 minutes.LOL

78 mph on a 1/4 mile track. Pretty fast. I think that confirms most of our suspicions that the track is a little less than 1/4 mile (at least around the groove). But all tracks measure a little differently and it doesn't matter to me what the exact size is, just so there is good racing like there was. Congrats on the win Andy and sorry for using the wrong last name before!
