View Full Version : Where did my rep go?

I noticed today that my green reputation bar has shrunk. I was on my way to lighting up the yellow..... and now I've been knocked down to about half way on the green. Was this due to something I did wrong or broke a rule on the site? I checked my profile and it is not showing any bad feedback....

Nothing anyone done, just done some tweaking to it that I have not been able to do in the past. It was overlooked that the reputation system was easily abused. It did not take much to get to the yellow and then to the cars, and with the added Thanks You feature (you get rep when thanked as well) the reps were building to quickly. I also noticed that it did not have to be spread around much before giving rep to the same person, again opens the door to more abuse, plus there was not much of a limit on how much rep one could give in a 24hr period.
Reputation is something I feel should be earned and not just received.. It's nothing against anyone and no one actually lost points it just takes more to get across to the yellow now.
Hers a little incentive for everyone that likes to get rep. The admins have a rep power of 500 so if you see that I or tas has given you rep then it's 500 points to ya.. I only give it out when I feel a post or thread was helpful and or informative. But then again I still don't give it out to every post.
I am still tweaking it so bare with me... :smilie12:
I doubt many will agree with me, but it would be nice to see the whole thing go away. We don't need to walk around with our "reps" on our "sleeves"... so to speak.
Just my .02.

Quit whining! Oh how I hate people being PC. They got more more cars than me LOL Well either do something good or get you some friends!!!! If there is a category you should always strive to be at the top. No matter how trivial it may seem. Only to the top should be everyone's motto:smiley_804:

And once again, you obviously *completely* missed my point.
It's a silly, arbitrary, and self-serving system. I'm not whining and I'm not being PC. Actually, it's quite the opposite when you think about it...
The main use that I get out of it is to quickly and quietly send thanks to someone without going into the PM interface.

I got the point. You think its silly. I think its fun. Some Like to do things loud. Not quietly. Some like to be flashy and have alot of those little cars. Some wear them as a badge of honor:Supprise:

Rhett you can turn off the display of your rep VIA your CP.. I am looking to see if there is a mod that can be applied to let a user turn of rep participation..

I don't see that option. Is it under Edit Options or Edit Profile? If so, I must be missing it.

Why would you want to find it? After all the hard work I have done to get you up to the top:HighFive: and you are so ungrateful that you want to turn it off. :i_dont_believ_it:

Check it now.
This permission allows the user to have the option ,from their User CP, of not participating in the reputation system. While the user can still receive reputation comments, their reputation will not be visible to other users.
Check it now.

OK guys..... my question was not meant to cause an argument, I just wanted to know.....
but if I were to have to take a side in this one it would be jh's side.
Honestly, I was not looking for popularity but..... I feel that just about every post I have (at least in the BCS track forum)(ok, so I do rant when it comes to illegal immigrints, but it is an opinion that is very strong)...... is an informative type thing, I try my best to stay out of the arguments and if I happen to step into one... I try to do it without bashing... I would rather stick to the facts. So, in essence I feel that I deserved everyone of those little green dots I had, as well as the yellow one that was finally lit.
So, yes, a popularity contest and a discussion board I guesss that's what it can be considered. I dont think people are adding to rep just to get it to skyrocket, if you get good rep or thanx, than your probably deserving of it. It's nice to know that someone out there appreceiates what ya have to say.
JH: start a poll, see who cares about rep and who does not, I vote: I care about it.

when anyone gives neg rep.... not just you JH.
If I got neg, it would bother me.... 1 because apparently I offended someone or did something wrong and 2 because my little dots would go away.......
ok so maybe they are just a "feel good" thing.... whats wrong with feeling good....:YesNo:

To be honest, no it will not. Dont take this the wrong way but Im not on here for that. I like to come have a discussion and be gone. I see alot of these folks at the track and they know how I am. Its a good thing for those who like it, but it dont bother me at all. I say what I need to say and thats how I feel. I have offended people (not that I try) and been offended. I guess I let a bunch of stuff go in one ear and out the other. I think thats how alot of people need to be.
