The wife, kids and I went to the Wilson Whirligig Festival this past Saturday but there was one thing missing "DIRT CARS" There was a Southern National pace car but no dirt cars. Why don't more dirt tracks participate in things like this? I mean there were people all around the SNS booth checking out the action photos and carrying off info about the track. I am sure the cost of a booth would be worth the exposure one would receive from a 3 day event with thousands of people walking by. Who would not stop and look at a Late Model race car? If they will look at a pace car a real race car has got to attract some attention.

if im not mistaken, we will be entering something in the wilson christmas parade for clr. should be a fun time for all. wanted to be in the rocky mount parade but they said "no racecars or car clubs". oh well. and i agree, we should do more of these festivals. great way to get our names out there. but when they are during the racing season, you have all of your staff at the track working on stuff. anyway, id like to see more of it

This event was after the racing season ended so no excuse there.
Even if it was during the race season if planned ahead it could be done. they only had two people there at the booth.. An I know your next excuse will be. Well can't get a car there during race season.. Again if planned ahead I'm sure someone would volunteer there car to be seen by a few thousand people. It would benefit both the track and a driver that may be looking for sponsorship..
I just don't think that local dirt tracks put in the effort to get corporate sponsorship. I mean look at SNS, it has sponsors all over the track. But when you go to some of the dirt tracks it's empty..

I agree with RJ.... a few promoters will get on here and ask for donations or what have ya for sponorships, but they dont want to take the time to go to businesses or try to educate the public about dirt racing. Granted, LRC reaches alot of people and I've learned alot from being a part of this board as well, but if I wanted a major sponsor or even many sponsors, I would put the time into going out in the public more... hope to see more publicity for all tracks... see yall at the banquet
I do not know about others from the track but I didn't know what the festival was. Didn't know that booths and things were set up. If someone would have known about it then it may have been possible to get to get something together. Maybe something will come together for next year.

Up here in Jan . there is a big motorsports show in Atlantic City NJ. and can I guarantee you, there will tracks (promoters and owners) from Virginia to Canada, Ohio, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia and more. They will have hand outs (give aways), schedules, rules, motel list and just about anything that you need to know about that track. Also all the series will be there with all there hand out and schedules. There will be more then a 100 race cars (modified & Late Models) go karts sprints cars.
