It is with great sadness that I learned today that National Dirt Digest, the nation's #1 source of racing information for better than 20 years has finally made the ultimate decision to close shop. The October 3rd issue that was sent out to subscribers is the final issue that will be printed. The effort to maintain the publication has finally taken it's toll on Editor and Publisher Brian McLeod, as his health has become a concern.

To all the men and women who donated their time, and to the entire staff at NDD, I say thankyou for all the great years of great racing coverage.

Best wishes to Brian and Carolyn McLeod in all their endeavors

Brian and Carolyn are extremely reputable people, so at the immediate moment, the concern need not be about refunds as I know they will always do the right thing. They always have and I KNOW that will continue to do so.

Currently National Dirt Digest is the most dynamic source of regular information within the Dirt Late Model community as a print publication (IMO) and many of us have grown to count on it for:
-News
-Promotional Support
-Valued Advertising outlet
-Tool to help Dirt Late Models continue to GROW...locally, regionally and at the national level

We need to FIRST, keep Brian's health in our prayers and thoughts and secondarily, we need to keep Brian and Carolyn in our prayers and thoughts for the best outcome to come about, first and foremost for THEM and then for the National Dirt Digest.
If nothing else, we (as a strong community and family of racing professionals) need to help them find a solution.......if that means putting together a group to buy the publication and keep it going forward OR helping them in whatever way they might need from us, as industry brethren, to assist them through this transition.

They have stood behind our segment of the sport, NOW it is time for us to stand behind them and render whatever support we might be able to muster as a group. They deserve nothing less.

Give it some thought and let's keep our wits and composure about us as we try to find a positive resolve for them and all in the business.

Remember, we are all in this together........

Wow. That's bad news. I was on that site just the other day thinking about a subscription. Too bad I missed out over the years.

Are there any other national publications like this?

I wonder why they haven't posted an announcement on their site? Maybe someone else could pick it up?

 I have no experience in the publishing business and not that much more in racing. I'd do what I could to help though.

Never seeing this publication, I'm guessing that they rely heavily on external reporters / journalists that contribute articles. If those folks still want to write and contribute, maybe someone else could handling the overall publishing aspect.

Hard for any publication to survive against on-line competition. Saturday night I felt like I was at the DTWC with all coverage on Dirt on Dirt.

let me addmend what I just said, I couldn't be at 311 because of family obligations, so the internet was my only fix. A distant second option.
