Since this is the last race of the year, with no points, and raised purses, is there any way to open up the rules to get more cars there? I see the LM rules have been changed to allow crates and aluminum heads. What needs to be done (if anything) to equalize the pure stock V8s and the bombers and VMS' All American class? I think the super stock 4s are pretty much the same at most of the area tracks...if its a matter of tires, change the weights. I think the pure stock 4 rules are similar too and if someone has an advantage, take it away with something easy to do or do something to make the faster cars a little slower. And can anything be done to make the VMS chargers and sportsmen fit into a class. Then of course there's the T&L class - can't we just make the cars with their engines further back (eg. Clarys) add extra weight or extra weight in the front. I know a lot more people would be in the stands if Buddy Sr, Buddy Jr, the undertaker, and others can come and race against the Liles', Alan Worrells, and Chris Ray, etc. What's a special (2 day) show if there are few or no outsiders to challenge the regulars?
I can post the race info that we have so far on vadirtlovers and RacingOnTheEdge. I also need to e-mail Dave Seay (of VMS) about some photos but I need a litle more information if I want to talk to him about some of his guys racing at CLR (there season just ended). I also have contact with some Dixieland drivers (they end on the 19th), but again I need more info to talk to them about the CLR race. I know it may be too late for this, but I've also e-mailed my winged champ kart buddies, you may not be interested, but these guys run wings, get well over 20 at a normal race up there and run in a Daytona/Talladega style draft that gets everyone up on their feet (I once won in a 3 way photo finish).
Sorry if people feel like I'm butting in but I think this kind of show should be more than a regular show with a demo derby and powder puff thrown in. Dreamstreaker - if you could get the word out to all your demo derby friends maybe we'll get a half decent field (thanks). And one final thing. Nobody has taken me seriously on this, but they do it up north and it usually gets a pretty good reception. A media race - one or two local radio people if you can get them, Racejunkie and/or other LRC "personalities" who show up (like me, JH, rb), the announcer, KL if he shows up. Just as long as they have no stock car racing experience. And please be aware that if there is no media race I will be forced to wear a dress or some other form of women's clothing so I can race in one of the powder puff races. :muahaha:
