JH....No mirrors??...I would think the average racer would rather see if anybody is closing on him than be "dropkicked" into the wall and never see it coming...And the fourth rule under the ******'s....Make sure you remind your "flagman and scorers " about that one !!!!...

Most all tracks across the country run without mirrors. More wrecks are cause by using the mirror to drive than the other way around

mhm sucks to be the ones who have mirrors in they car to help them run then.

I wonder how many cars are going to be there with the rules change this late in the year? Some cars have the mirrors already, the radios I wouldnt see being such a problem. I hope you have a great turn out, but I am sure there is gonna be some major whining. Glad I dont have to hear that part.......good luck this weekend

No whining allowed. This rule is only for the SUPER STREET NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP RACE ONLY. No other classes are effected by this(well for this year anyway:icon_rofl:).

Others from around the country hear how a few places in the south run mirrors and they say WTH. I have never heard of such, I thought only asphalt guys ran mirrors and radios. I not judging, but that is what others say when I travel and talk racing with folks.

Daniel, no one has mentioned radio's, it is something that came up last night in a meeting between NB, Dwayne, Missy, Doug, John, Dwayne, JC, and I.........I can assure you no driver in this race had a thing to do with this decision........

i don;t see why radios can;t be used. There is alot of money on the line here. that is like tellin late models they can;t use radios. really how can that help the car go faster it will obnly be better can cut the wrecks down cause i can bet you one thing there is goin to be wrecks.

Hardly any sanction Body's in dirt racing allow radios or mirrors. Walt if you gonna join in the convo have your facts straight.

Radio's can't be used because the rules say so........and truthfully, the track is so small, something has happened before the person with the radio can get it out of their mouth to the driver.........it's really no need to continue this discussion because there will be NO MIRRORS and NO RADIOS allowed in this race............

gb81racing
10-09-2007, 05:05 PM
most of the SLM series dont allow 2 way radios, all they allow is raceivers so the officilas can talk to the drivers, but dang we dont get none of the above. a mirror is helpfull so that you dont turn down or wreck both cars if someone has there nose under you that way they can give a lil room. i mean its a tight track and there will be alot of hard racin out there.

there will be al ot hard racing Greg, but mirrors can cause as many if not more wrecks than running without them because some tend to "rearview mirror drive" rather than see what is ahead of them.........

gb81racing

i have both mirror and radios but i havent used the radio all year, but the mirror has been in the car. it is very helpful going into a turn when racing close with another car. i hardly use it but it is there just in case. we have no spotters or nothing so it is all feel and instinct

w1ck3d0n3l0st
10-09-2007, 05:14 PM
The only thingi hate about rearview mirror is it gives them a chance to block. Thinkin about it since u wroite that Marcia i can understand a lil . Racin to make the field and you got a guy blockin cause he can see you wouldn;t be fair.

i understand that, some will be using them to keep the other car behind them and eventually that other driver will wreck him or the blocker will wreck him self either was i will be there, but a mirror would be good to some. its all we have

i love the no mirror no radio rule. in fact i wish that dirt tracks wouldnt allow them. ive always heard that you dont need to pay attention to what is going on behind you. i mean what can you possibly need to look at that much? i never ran a mirror and wouldnt want one. you can feel where that car behind you is

I was thinking the same thing. But, if the SS hot laps start right after their drivers meeting @ 5, we at least know that cars will be on the track around 5:45 or so.

My question would be, do you have to remove the mirror or can they be covered with Duct tape.

If they are allowed to be covered with duct tape, upon post race inspection, if ANY part of the mirror is visable, will they be DQ.........:72xw:

I would say YES...There will already be cars that are gonna try to get as much advantage as possible..If this covering the mirror is allowed and it "happens" to come off...There will be somebody that swears they wont using it...yeh right...I've had one for 7 yrs and always use it to stay out of somebody's way...Not to block ever...Just to keep from causing a mess...

4 wheelers and golf carts will be permitted but please use caution in the pits with these.......if you bring a 4 wheeler or golf cart with any vehicle other than the one towing a trailer it will have to be parked in the parking lot and the 4wheeler or cart unloaded there and then driven in the pits........

If you are spread out on the track I agree...Watch the Flagman...but if you're racing with
5-6 cars..And might I add racing for $3,500....The last thing you will have time to look up at is that flagstand...
