DURHAM, N.C. (AP) -- Receiver Kenneth Moore rushed for two touchdowns and Wake Forest withstood Thaddeus Lewis' four-TD performance and beat Duke 41-36 on Saturday.

Moore caught 11 passes for 100 yards and rushed four times for 84 yards, with scoring runs covering 21 and 53 yards for the Demon Deacons (3-2, 2-1 Atlantic Coast Conference).

Wake Forest led by 25 and seemed in control after Alphonso Smith returned a third-quarter interception 30 yards for a touchdown, but the Blue Devils rallied. Justin Boyle ran 3 yards for a touchdown and Lewis had TD passes of 2 yards to Eron Riley and 31 yards to Jomar Wright to pull Duke within 34-29 with about 12 minutes left.

Duke's last good chance to take the lead came with 2:51 remaining after Leon Wright returned a punt 26 yards to the Wake Forest 47. Lewis threw four straight incompletions, and Moore took Wake Forest's next snap 53 yards through the right side to push the lead to 41-29 with 2:24 to play.

Lewis threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to Austin Kelly with 1:05 left to pull within five, but Delon Lowe recovered the onside kick and the Demon Deacons ran out the clock.
Lewis finished 21-of-47 for 291 yards with two interceptions. He connected with Riley for two of his four scores, but it wasn't enough to help the Blue Devils (1-5, 0-3) avoid their 20th straight loss in the ACC. Duke lost its third straight since it snapped a 22-game losing streak last month.

Riley Skinner completed 22-of-30 passes for 221 yards with an interception, and De'Angelo Bryant and Micah Andrews added short scoring runs for the Demon Deacons, who once again needed a big play in the final minutes to seal a victory over the pesky Blue Devils.

Last year, Chip Vaughn blocked a field goal in the final seconds to preserve a 14-13 victory, one they cited as a defining moment in their run to the ACC title.

Sam Swank's 46-yard field goal on the first play of the second quarter put Wake Forest ahead to stay.

Smith returned an interception for a score for a second straight game. Two weeks ago, his 100-yard return sparked a rally from a 21-point deficit against Maryland.

Lewis hit Riley with touchdown passes covering 68 and 2 yards. That first scoring toss, on the Blue Devils' second play from scrimmage, accounted for more than half of his team's 112 total yards in the first half.

Duke jumped out to an early 9-0 lead because of a miscue committed by Wake Forest's punt team: backup long-snapper Greg Bechtel's snap to Swank rolled to the 3-yard line and Swank pitched the ball out of the end zone for a safety. After the free kick, the Blue Devils needed only two plays to score again on Lewis' long scoring pass to Riley.

I heard Duke has this new Japanese player coming in to play basketball and football next season. I think his name was Win One-Soon! HAHA! Football season ain't long enough as it is. Basketball is only good at the college level anyways. The NBA season is too long for a sport that's boring as hell, not to mention the same way with the MLB.

John you should be happy with Duke football this season. The games they have lost, with the exception of maybe two, haven't been by much. They are starting to get a mediocre football team. They'll never be as good as Texas(who am I kidding this year?), but they are decent.

The best football program in the state of North Carolina is Appalachian State. Put them up against any ACC team in the state, and they will walk the dog on them. But yeah, I do tend to pull for ECU. They have one helluva tailgating scene.

The best football program was NCSU, during Chuck Amato's term as head coach. That 49-37 overall record says it all.....l :uglylol:
